At the 78th Cannes Film Festival, Janhvi Kapoor‘s film Homebound made its global debut – marking her initial attendance at this prestigious event. Accompanying her on this momentous day were Boney Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Not long ago, Janhvi shared that her father had become quite emotional and disorganized, while her sister’s eyes appeared red after viewing the movie.
In a recent chat with Sucharita Tyagi, Janhvi Kapoor discussed the reactions of Boney Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor at the premiere of Homebound. She explained that while she greeted everyone present, she deliberately avoided her father and sister. “I spotted my dad; he was in tears, a state I hadn’t seen him in for a long time,” she shared. “My sister’s eyes were red too. I thought to myself, ‘I don’t think I’ll approach them,'” she continued. The actress further mentioned that she knew if she went near them, she might start crying again.
Janhvi shared that her father was profoundly affected by the movie, a response not seen from him towards art in a while. She believed the event was incredibly emotional and therapeutic for all viewers in the cinema. She expressed that it was a truly memorable occasion.
Neeraj Ghaywan’s second film is titled “Homebound.” Previously, he directed “Masaan,” a film featuring actors Vicky Kaushal and Richa Chadha, which was also showcased at the Cannes Film Festival.
The movie titled “Homebound” has been chosen for the Un Certain Regard category. Starring in the leading roles are Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa. This film is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier are the co-producers, while Martin Scorsese acts as the executive producer.
Previously, during the unveiling of the movie’s selection, the producers expressed their gratitude and excitement by saying, “We are profoundly honored and thrilled to have our film officially chosen for the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ category. It brings us great joy to represent our nation and Indian cinema on a distinguished international stage.
This year’s Cannes Festival also featured other popular Indian film stars such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, and Nitanshi Goel, among others, from the world of Bollywood.
