Actress Milly Alcock reflects on her journey to securing the lead role as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in the DC Universe’s “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” She recounts the audition and screen test she underwent during the casting process.
In a recent chat with Elle magazine, Alcock opened up about her audition journey for the Supergirl role, eventually making it to the shortlist at DC Studios’ talent hunt. For Alcock, the selection process was remarkably challenging, as she detailed in her conversation.
Overwhelming terror gripped me for a moment, leaving me somewhat stunned. My first thought was, “What on earth have I gotten myself into?” So, I invited all my friends over and we celebrated with champagne. In the audition process, you find yourself in a room filled with other contenders, each of us dressed as the character we’re playing. The studio will transport us to a makeup truck, where they apply the same makeup to everyone. Then, we’re tested on stage. For the role of Supergirl, it was between me and another girl. It was absolutely terrifying; I felt like I might throw up! But it’s just fear – that’s part of the process! This job has been a journey of conquering my own fears.
