Among this year’s top sequels of established franchises, a standout is “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” the latest installment in the popular horror/thriller series from the 2000s. This film marks the return to cinemas after almost 15 years for the “Final Destination” franchise, and initial reviews suggest that it’s still going strong. Critics have particularly praised the acting of the main cast, with Tony Todd, a well-known recurring actor in the series, receiving high praise for his portrayal of William Bludworth in many of the movies.
The Final Destination films make up an anthology, with each movie featuring a different cast, but Death Proof has been one of the few characters to appear regularly across four out of the six movies. Typically, his role is to elucidate how death operates within the Final Destination universe and provide insights into what the characters can do to avoid their predestined fates. However, Bloodlines was Todd’s last appearance in the series, leaving fans wondering who will take over his role in future installments.
Final Destination Bloodlines Links William Bludworth To Kimberly Corman
Bludworth Mentions Kimberly During The Events Of Bloodlines
In the thrilling movie “Bloodlines,” one intriguing link to the franchise’s past unfolds when Bludworth discloses knowledge about Kimberly Corman (played by A.J. Cook) surviving beyond expectations. You might remember Kimberly from “Final Destination 2” where she miraculously survived a fatal highway crash, only to find herself on Death’s ominous list. In this movie, she meets an untimely demise by drowning, but Death’s peculiar rules allowed her to be resuscitated and walk away unscathed – no actual death required for her escape.
In the movie “Bloodlines,” when Bludworth was laying down Death’s guidelines for the characters, he disclosed that she was the sole individual known to him who survived being on Death’s list. Later in the sequel, Bludworth clarified Death’s rules to Kimberly and her companions. Now, it has been officially confirmed that they must have had some interaction following the end of that movie, given his knowledge of her survival.
Kimberly Corman Could Return In Final Destination 7 & Replace Bludworth
Bloodlines Showed That Kimberly Could Reappear
In my humble opinion, with Todd not reprising his role for “Final Destination 7,” it’s plausible that Kimberly might step into the limelight instead. Given her intimate knowledge of Death’s machinations, she could very well assume a mentor-like role to the film’s new protagonists. It’s worth noting that few actors return for multiple roles in this franchise due to the swift demise of most characters. However, Kimberly being specifically named in the script might hint at a more substantial future for her character within the series. Her survival sets her apart, offering an intriguing perspective that could significantly contribute to the narrative.
Kimberly Corman Would Be A Totally Different Ally For Death’s Targets
Kimberly Wouldn’t Simply Recreate Bludworth’s Character
In a new twist for the Final Destination series, having Kimberly assume a mentoring role could provide an innovative approach to maintain the freshness as the franchise continues its movie production. On the other hand, Todd’s portrayal in the film was remarkably composed and understated, lending an eerie, almost supernatural vibe to the character, despite Bludworth being simply a man, who, though ordinary, had an extraordinary connection with Death due to his extensive experience.
Instead of maintaining her usual composure, Kimberly appeared noticeably distressed in the movie, given the extraordinary situations she found herself in. However, Cook delivered an outstanding portrayal of Kimberly, making her a compelling choice for a new character. She could bring a fresh perspective to the franchise, being the only one among all characters who managed to evade Death’s grasp, so it would be intriguing to explore her viewpoint post-events in “Final Destination: Bloodlines.
