The movie “Ramayana,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, is one of the most eagerly anticipated Indian films currently. Known for its massive production budget, this film boasts a stellar cast filled with exceptionally talented actors from various regions of the country. According to recent media updates, the star-studded cast has grown even larger with new additions.
As an ardent fan, I can’t hide my excitement when I hear that the exceptional actor, Vivek Oberoi, known for his mesmerizing performances in films like Company, Omkara, Krrish 3, and more, has been cast in a pivotal role. The rumors are true; it seems he will embody the character of Vidyutjihva, a demon prince from the daitya clan and the husband of Surpanakha, portrayed by the talented Rakul Preet Singh. Intriguingly, my hero’s character is set to engage in an epic battle on the battleground against the demon king Ravana, played by none other than Yash. I can hardly wait!
Despite some media speculations, neither Anil Kapoor nor Vikrant Massey have been officially added to the star-studded cast as of yet. The rumors suggested they would portray King Janaka and Prince Meghnad respectively in the upcoming movie, but a reliable source close to the production has clarified that these reports are unfounded.
For those who might not be familiar, the epic tale of Ramayana is being brought to life in grand fashion by director Nitesh Tiwari. In this adaptation, Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays Mata Sita, Yash portrays Ravana, and Sunny Deol embodies Lord Hanuman. Beyond the principal cast, the film boasts a talented ensemble including Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta, Amitabh Bachchan, Kunal Kapoor, Kajal Aggarwal, and others.
The upcoming Ramayan movie will unfold across two installments for a grand cinema adventure. Specifically, the first part is set to premiere on Diwali 2026, with the second part following suit on Diwali 2027. Remarkably, both segments are being filmed concurrently as a single production process.
Funded by Namit Malhotra and Yash, this upcoming mythology epic drama is estimated to cost approximately USD 1000 million (Rs 835 crore), making it the most expensive film ever produced in Indian cinema. Remarkably, this massive budget applies only to the first installment of the series. The producers aim to share this grand Indian tale with a global audience and are currently negotiating with Warner Bros. Pictures, a renowned Hollywood studio, for international distribution.
