The Australian AI company, Othelia Technologies, is growing its presence in the US by bringing on board Scott Greenberg, a previous CEO and co-founder of Bento Box Entertainment.
As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that Bob Greenberg, the illustrious Emmy Award-winning producer behind the hit show “Bob’s Burgers,” will be assuming the role of Executive Chairman at Othelia. In a remarkable display of confidence and commitment, Greenberg, along with his partners, have chosen to invest their own funds (having sold their animation company, Bento Box, to Fox back in 2019) into this venture. This strategic move positions him as one of the co-founders, a title well-deserved for his invaluable contribution. The decision to establish Othelia’s presence in America is being seen as a rejuvenation or rebirth, a new chapter in this exciting journey.
In their new Los Angeles headquarters, Alexandra Hooven has been appointed as the chief growth officer for Othelia Technologies, making her a co-founder in essence. The company was initially established by Kate Armstrong-Smith, serving as CEO, and Joe Couch, as chief technology officer, based in Sydney. Prior to this, Hooven assisted Greenberg in launching Blockchain Creative Labs at Fox. In her new role, she will manage the development and global rollout of Othelia’s products within the creative community, both in the United States and internationally.
This autumn, Othelia plans to unveil its premier software, Storykeeper, in a beta version. During this phase, it will be accessible for free; however, pricing for future use remains undecided. Over the past year, Storykeeper has been tested extensively with several prominent studios and global streaming platforms, according to Othelia.
Storykeeper functions as an artificial intelligence system, yet it’s not the type that generates fresh content from its learning experiences. Instead, Storykeeper is designed for individual content creators and collaborative studio teams in the fields of film, television, social media, and gaming to utilize its services.
This tool organizes narrative text into structured data, gathering essential story components like plot, characters, themes, timelines, and rules of the world within a single, secure, interconnected environment.
As a gamer, I’d say: “StoryKeeper keeps tabs on every link in my storyline, spotting inconsistencies and updates along the way. It gives me the edge I need with real-time management and a transparent view of how my game’s narrative unfolds and expands, shaping and defining the scope of my intellectual property.
The original data stored within Othelia belongs entirely to the user, providing them full ownership and control. It’s important to note that this data will not be utilized for training any creative models developed by our company.
Greenberg stated, “During my professional journey, I’ve witnessed directly how suitable systems and technology can revolutionize productivity without undermining imagination. In the case of Othelia, Kate and Joe have developed a robust platform that enhances human creativity, intellect, and emotion essential for storytelling and world-building. Othelia provides creators and studios with the necessary infrastructure to foster, expand, and safeguard the asset cherished most by audiences – narratives. I’m eager to collaborate with them and Alex as we present Othelia as an indispensable ally in the industry.
Othelia boasts initial support from its main investor, Aliavia Ventures, a venture capital firm based in California. Additionally, they refer to a group of angel investors, which includes producer Deanne Weir, former Sydney Film Festival chair and deputy chair of Screen Australia, as well as Clarence Capital Partners, among others.
As a story enthusiast, I’m constantly striving to create captivating narratives, but even with the rapid digitalization of production workflows, creative teams still encounter numerous narrative dilemmas and hurdles from concept to distribution. However, I’m thrilled about the potential that Storykeeper holds for our industry, as it could continue to amaze audiences with its vision. With Scott’s sharp business acumen and Alex’s expertise, I can’t wait to see what Othelia’s future holds as technology and entertainment continue to merge, fostering even more collaboration and creativity.
On the other hand, speed is essential in today’s content creation landscape — producing pitches, scenes, visuals swiftly. Yet, without a solid structure, this speed merely adds to the chaos. The end result? A deluge of disconnected content with fleeting appeal. What truly sets lasting stories apart isn’t just skillful crafting; it’s cohesion, purposefulness, and the ability to adapt without compromising meaning. That’s exactly what we aim to achieve with Othelia and Storykeeper.
