As a gamer, I’d put it this way: “Just scored the North American distribution rights for the gripping WWII thriller ‘Nuremberg’, penned by James Vanderbilt. Can’t wait to dive into this historical masterpiece!
In this historical play, Russell Crowe portrays Hermann Goring, a notorious German war criminal, while Rami Malek takes on the role of Douglas Kelley, an American army psychiatrist who interrogated Hitler’s chief lieutenant following the conclusion of World War II. This acquisition brings SPC back together with Vanderbilt, as the specialty distributor had released the director’s film titled Truth, which centered around the Rathergate scandal in 2015.
As a gamer, I’m super excited that SPC is planning to hit the big screen with “Nuremberg” on November 7, 2025, which happens to be right around the 80th anniversary of the Nuremberg trials by the Allies. This movie focuses on a psychiatrist named Kelley, who’s grappling with whether or not the Nazi leaders accused of war crimes are mentally capable of standing trial. But Can’t wait to see how this unfolds on the silver screen!
The historical drama titled “Nuremberg,” produced by Walden Media and Bluestone Entertainment, was scripted and helmed by Vanderbilt, and is inspired by the book “The Nazi and the Psychiatrist” penned by Jack El-Hai. In this film, Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Mark O’Brien, Colin Hanks, Lydia Peckham, Wrenn Schmidt, Lotte Verbeek, and Andreas Pietschmann all give noteworthy performances.
As a devoted fan, I’d like to highlight that the compelling series “Nuremberg” is a collaborative effort by an exceptional team. This includes Richard Saperstein, Bradley J. Fischer, Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Frank Smith, Benjamin Tappan, Cherilyn Hawrysh, István Major, and George Freeman. The executive producer credits are jointly held by El-Hai, Brooke Saperstein, Annie Saperstein, Beau Turpin, W. Porter Payne, Jr., Paul Neinstein, Széchenyi Funds Géza Deme, and Tamas Hajnal.
Vanderbilt expressed deep excitement about reconnecting with Michael, Tom, and the entire Sony Pictures Classics crew, who ten years back supported him as a debut director. Their history of backing exceptional movies has made them a remarkable collaborator,” Vanderbilt stated.
In its official statement, SPC noted that ‘Nuremberg’, directed by James Vanderbilt, is an important piece, a gripping story that remains highly relevant today. The performances of Russell Crowe, Michael Shannon, Rami Malek, and Leo Woodall are all exceptional and career-defining. This fall, ‘Nuremberg’ promises to be a noteworthy movie in theaters.
Vanderbilt not only penned the screenplay for Zodiac under David Fincher’s direction, but he has also written and produced over twenty films. Nuremberg, on the other hand, is bankrolled by Bluestone Entertainment, Walden Media, and funds from Hungary’s Széchenyi Foundation. Mythology Entertainment took on this project after obtaining the rights to El-Hai’s original article and subsequent book in 2011.
WME Independent acted as an intermediary, securing global distribution rights for the movie and striking a deal with SPC on behalf of its creators.
