Judging from the trailers, it seems that the horror powerhouse trio of Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster have another successful film on their hands. This new movie appears to be a self-aware and action-packed sequel, playfully referencing “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”. Similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 encountering its equal in the T-1000 (played by Robert Patrick), M3GAN, portrayed by Amie Donald and Jenna Davis, faces a challenge when she is brought back to life with some useful upgrades only to confront a menacing new machine called Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno).
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Allison Williams (Gemma), the star and producer of M3GAN 2.0, mentioned that the idea of entering the genre with a second doll wasn’t something they had originally planned, but it became clear to Gerard Johnstone, the writer, director, and executive producer, that having a second doll would inevitably lead them into this genre.

It’s amusing that Gemma ends up in an action film, almost unbelievably so. The absurdity is entertaining, and we enjoyed exploring the humor inherent in her unexpected role.
We’re really taken with the idea you’ve presented, and if viewers show their appreciation, who knows how far this series might progress! However, discussing sequels before a film premieres is generally viewed negatively in the industry, and it can sometimes be considered bad luck.
Will there be a third M3GAN movie?
Williams hinted to THR with a chuckle that there’s been considerable planning involved, but he didn’t elaborate further. He admitted his love for brainstorming, as it’s what keeps us in the entertainment industry. He harbors grand ambitions and high hopes for future projects, and he doesn’t feel his creative journey with these collaborators, this genre, and these themes is complete. Therefore, a third installment has definitely crossed his mind.

However, this high-tech ally seems less like the charming Scarlett Johansson in “Her” and more like the formidable Glenn Close in “Fatal Attraction.
