In the year 2025, one might wonder what Cher Horowitz would be occupying her time with. L’Ermitage Beverly Hills has imaginatively prepared a temporary abode tailored for the beloved alumna of Bronson Alcott High School, commemorating the 30th anniversary of “Clueless” with a stylish new suite.
Movie enthusiasts could envision the character from Beverly Hills (portrayed by Alicia Silverstone) taking off her heels after globetrotting for her career as an environmental lawyer or a fashion executive. From this coming Saturday, fashion-conscious film fans can reserve a stay at the 750-square-foot Clueless Suite ($1,995/night), and immerse themselves in the world of the iconic movie for two nights or more.
The hotel collaborated with Paramount Pictures and interior designer Jordan Hackworth to envision a lavish space. Meanwhile, original costume designer Mona May handpicked the wardrobe with fashionable items from Bloomingdale’s. This suite boasts a yellow plaid accent wall reminiscent of Cher’s famous Jean Paul Gaultier outfit, art inspired by Lichtenstein, a neon pink “Carpe diem! Okay?” sign, and Schlossberg blush silk bedding. For an additional fee ($995 per night), guests can upgrade to the ‘Cher’mitage Experience’, which includes taking Polaroid photos, a VIP styling appointment at the store, and $100 to spend at Bloomingdale’s, along with other special perks.
May describes it as vibrant and cheerful, much like something Cher herself would appreciate,” May told The Hollywood Reporter. “As soon as you step inside, you’re transported into the realm of Clueless.
Pondering the lasting impact of ‘Clueless’ on fashion, society, and cinema, she meticulously prepared the suite adorned with a Cher-inspired wardrobe, an attraction set to be showcased and shoppable via Fitted, the exclusive virtual closet app for the movie’s 30th anniversary promotions. The renowned costume designer is all set to unveil ‘The Fashion of Clueless’ (Simon & Schuster) on October 7, with the preorders already live on Amazon, Bookshop, and other retailers.
Iggy Azalea, Kim Kardashian along with her daughter, Taylor Swift, and Harry Styles were all touched by the appeal of the yellow plaid outfit, as it continues to inspire. May says this connection spans three decades, allowing us to honor fans, reminisce about the past, and feel a sense of nostalgia for simpler times. There was an innocence to it that we may have yearned for. Back then, there were no smartphones or Instagram ruling our daily lives.
May mentions that the movie was exceptional due to budget constraints – a mere $200,000, which she humorously describes as negligible. She explains that instead of receiving branded clothing, they had to scour thrift stores for costumes. Alicia alone required 63 wardrobe changes, and this was just the start, as Deon, Amber, and each extra needed their own unique looks. Designing costumes for such a vast array of characters in various settings was an incredible challenge.
Guests staying at the Clueless Suite seem to enter the actual movie world, with various Easter eggs scattered around the area, like pictures of Josh (portrayed by Paul Rudd) and Cher’s stylish mother (who met an unfortunate end due to a strange accident during liposuction, as the character mentions in the film), a framed school timetable, makeup items on the vanity, and clothing hung over an elegant chair – all giving off the impression that Cher had only just stepped out.

She comments that the room’s fashion choices are a bit disorganized. ‘It’s truly exhilarating to observe this cultural impact,’ she says, ‘this film is deeply embedded in our collective consciousness. The emotional response it elicits is profound, and it resonates deeply with me; for those of us in the industry, we never know what’s next. Moreover, the movie was released at a time when girls were eager to experiment with color, and everything fell into place perfectly.’
Drawing inspiration from Jane Austen’s novel, “Emma”, the movie “Clueless” was penned and helmed by Amy Heckerling. After its release in July 1995, it raked in a total of $56.7 million globally. Alongside Silverstone and Rudd, this film featured stars like Stacey Dash, the late Brittany Murphy, Elise Donovan, Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer, among others. You can currently stream it on Paramount+ (with a new subscriber deal available) or purchase it at a discounted price from Prime Video.
The 63-year-old costume designer reflects on Amy, recalling her as an exceptional writer and director. She penned an intricate narrative about these charming young women and their bond, with Cher being particularly relatable to women. I feel fortunate to work on many films centered around strong female characters; to me, showcasing femininity is crucial.

During the making of the film, we were all quite young. It was my debut in a major studio production, and we were like wide-eyed children, dropped into this incredible creative journey with Amy. She had a clear vision of how things should be done and what she wanted. She fostered our artistic growth. I owe her so much; she helped me unlock my creative potential. Our paths crossed during the film’s pilot, but we instantly felt like kindred spirits. I could contribute something eternal.
In May’s upcoming book, fans can look forward to a stroll down memory lane with the cast of “Clueless”, including Alicia Silverstone, Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, and Dan Humphrey (or Breckin Meyer, as he was known in the show). Excitingly, she mentions that they discovered an old Polaroid photo from the set, taken 30 years ago.
The “Clueless” Luxury Suite at L’Ermitage Beverly Hills can be reserved from July 12 to September 1, priced at $1,995 per night (with a two-night minimum stay). Additionally, the Cher’mitage Experience is offered for an extra $995 per night. For more information, click here.
