Kyle MacLachlan and Justin Long have signed on alongside Penn Badgley and Meghann Fahy for the Amazon MGM romantic comedy “You Deserve Each Other,” adapted from Sarah Hogle’s novel.
The film, with a budget in the mid-$20 million range, is currently being filmed in New York. Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, who have previously directed successful romantic comedies like “Never Been Kissed” and “He’s Just Not That Into You,” are at the helm.
In addition, Ana Gesteyer, Timothy Busfield, Delaney Rowe, Lisa Gilroy, and Alyssa Limperis have also joined the cast. Fifth Season is one of the production companies involved in this project.
“You Deserve Each Other” is a lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy where Naomi and Nick, a soon-to-be married couple who’ve lost their feelings for each other, resort to various tricks, sabotage, and emotional warfare in a bid to secretly persuade the other to call off the wedding. However, they eventually find their way back to love during this chaotic journey.
Long will portray Nick’s best friend, played by Badgley, while MacLachlan takes on the role of the character’s father.
MacLachlan, an accomplished actor, gained fame through his work in David Lynch’s Twin Peaks series and films, as well as on Portlandia and Amazon’s hit show Fallout. He is represented by UTA and Management 360.
Long, known for roles in movies like Galaxy Quest and Jeepers Creepers, made headlines with a striking performance in Zach Cregger’s cult favorite Barbarian. He also appeared on the first season of Disney+’s Goosebumps. Long is represented by IAG and Yorn Levine.
