In the latest update of Honkai Star Rail, version 3.4, you’ll find a plethora of new additions such as characters, Light Cones, and events. Among these novelties, Phainon joins the main Trailblaze Mission. Moreover, this update brings the long-awaited collaboration with Fate/stay night, featuring characters Saber and Archer, each having their exclusive Light Cone and banners. The question arises: is it worthwhile to summon them?
If you’re fond of Honkai Star Rail and Fate/stay night, it’s likely that these characters will catch your eye right away. On the other hand, if you’re new to them, you might have some reservations. Remember that the pity counts for the collaboration warps are independent from the banners featuring these characters.
Are Saber and Archer Worth Pulling For in Honkai Star Rail?
Consider using your Stellar Jades and Star Rail Special Passes primarily on Saber or Archer, whichever you prefer, before focusing on the other 5-Star characters such as Phainon, Tribbie, and others.
Starting next month on the 11th of July, 2025, at noon (server time), I’ll have a couple of fantastic banners joining my gaming roster! The “Excalibur Excelsior” and “I Am the Bone of My Sword” will be representing Saber and Archer respectively. On top of that, we’ve also got the Light Cone banners, named “A Thankless Coronation” and “The Hell Where Ideals Burn.” These additions are here to stay for quite a while, so get ready to experience some exciting gameplay!
It’s being discussed that their banners might stay until version 3.6, which is roughly estimated to last between two to three months (it could be longer). Unlike the standard 5-Star playable characters in Honkai Star Rail, such as Phainon, it seems extremely unlikely that Saber and Archer’s banners will return for a future rerun. This aligns with the collaboration between Honkai Impact 3rd and Evangelion, where Asuka Langley’s banner did not get a rerun following the end of the event.
These characters are exceptionally unique, making them a must-have. After all, owning at least one of each ensures you’ll always have an Archer, as the game provides you with one for free via email.
Should You Pull For Saber?
If you lack Wind DPS characters or like her in the Fate franchise, you should pull for Saber.

To aid in your deliberation, Saber is a character that adheres to the Destructive Path and belongs to the Wind element. She serves as a Damage Per Second (DPS) character, capable of dishing out burst damage to adversaries. Her primary method of inflicting harm comes from her Ultimate ability, “Excalibur.
Following her ultimate ability, her next basic attack becomes stronger and performs optimally when there are less than two opponents present on the battlefield. Compared to the Archer, she excels more in area-of-effect (AoE) attacks, a key distinction between them. Additionally, she has an Action Advance (AA), a feature that boosts her attack frequency.
If you’re considering pulling multiple copies of this character, I recommend obtaining both her Eidolon and Light Cone initially. Acquiring another Eidolon isn’t significantly beneficial, so it’s wiser to focus on her signature Light Cone. If you already have Sunday, then you’ll already have the optimal Support for Saber, as she has a high energy demand for her Ultimate ability.
Should You Pull For Archer?
Instead of suggesting you summon Archer’s warp, as he will be given to you for free, I would advise against it. But if you’re keen on obtaining his Eidolons and lack a good Quantum DPS character, then I think it could be beneficial to proceed with the summons.

As a gamer, I find myself drawn to Archer, the Quantum DPS character that treads The Path of The Hunt. Just like Saber, Archer has the potential for high damage per second (DPS), but his unique strength lies in his ability to dish out massive single-target damage. However, it’s crucial to remember that Archer gobbles up Skill Points (SP) at an alarming rate due to his frequent use of skills. To truly unleash Archer’s full potential, pairing him with efficient SP users like Sparkle is the way to go.
Many players speculate Saber will be the superior character due to Archer being offered at no cost, since they can only obtain Saber through the gacha system. This assumption is largely based on previous HoYoverse collaboration characters given away for free, who have underperformed and are seen as mere collectibles, like Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn in Genshin Impact.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that Archer could potentially lift that curse with his intriguing kit! He performed exceptionally well during beta testing, and the rumor mill suggests he won’t be a letdown due to his gacha warp ability. I’d advise giving him a spin first since you’ll snag him at E0.
If you’re interested, you can nab his initial Eidolon, which grants you 2SP whenever you use his skill 3 times in the same turn. However, I’d hold off on investing in his E2 upgrade; it doesn’t seem worth the resources. Instead, focus on acquiring his E1 before considering other options like Cruising in the Stellar Sea. There are plenty of great alternatives out there!

One aspect I prioritize when choosing characters in a gacha game is whether I find their design appealing, as I’m more of a casual player who doesn’t focus on the meta. I hold the view that no matter how powerful a character was initially, they will eventually be surpassed by other characters due to power creep.
