In a hint to fans, an actor famous for their role in the Zombies series suggested that Disney might be producing Zombies 5, implying that this latest installment could mark the beginning of another trilogy within the franchise. The popular supernatural musical films on Disney Channel, led by Milo Manheim and Meg Donnelly, have been captivating audiences since their debut in 2018. Since then, the series has expanded to include four movies, two short TV episodes, and an animated television show.
After a prolonged absence from public attention, the popular series “Zombies” returned to screens on July 10, with the premiere of the much-anticipated “Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires”. This fresh installment is a delightful expansion of the “Zombies” universe for dedicated fans. However, there’s speculation among viewers about whether this marks the conclusion of Addison and Zed’s cinematic journey or the beginning of a new chapter in the chilling musical realm. Remarks from one of the “Zombies” franchise’s leading actors hint that “Zombies 5” might be underway, implying that the recently launched “Zombies 4” could herald a new phase for the series.
Zombies made their comeback on television with the debut of “Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires.” In this latest installment, Meg Donnelly and Milo Manheim reprise their roles as Addison and Zed. This time around, they embark on a summer road trip that leads them into another supernatural conflict: Vampires versus Daywalkers.
Is There Going To Be a Zombies 5?
It hasn’t been verified yet if there will be any more “Zombie” adventures, but the closing scene of “Dawn of the Vampires” hints at potential future developments.
In the climax of “Zombies 4“, a whirlpool mysteriously appears near Nova (portrayed by Freya Skye) and Victor (Malachi Barton). This might indicate a future film centered around water, leading to encounters with aquatic creatures such as mermaids. Just as the series has previously delved into zombies and vampires, it may now dive deeper into the realm of mermaids.
Milo Manheim has hinted in multiple interviews that work on Zombies 5 is underway. In conversations with Deadline while promoting Dawn of the Vampires, he referred to the latest film as “the commencement of another potential trilogy.
It’s almost as if the initial three films formed a single trilogy, and now we’re seeing the beginning of another set of three.
The actor from Zed expressed his viewpoint that one fascinating aspect of this film series is how we’ve essentially built a universe with limitless possibilities. He sees great opportunity for growth and exploration within the realm of these films by broadening its scope.
I find it fascinating that our franchise has developed a versatile universe, allowing us to explore various directions. As we continue to grow beyond Seabrook, I’m eager to see where the story goes. I believe there’s always room for another ‘Zombies’ film in this ever-expanding world.
This fits with what Manheim shared with JoBlo prior to the release of “Zombies 4”. During their chat, the 24-year-old expressed his amazement that they’ve been able to create these movies, and he expressed a desire to carry on doing so.
To be honest, my perspective on the future of this franchise has undergone a significant change. Originally, I believed that after ‘Zombies 1,’ it would conclude. However, here we are, still producing these movies, which I never expected! It’s clear that people enjoy them, and I hope our journey continues. This has been quite a ride for me and Meg [Donnelly].
He mentioned, “‘If we keep going, perhaps we’ll manage something off-screen,’” further expressing that he along with his fellow franchise co-star Meg Donnelly, also aspire to take on more responsibilities off-camera.
We’ve been through various phases together during this project, but this time, it seems like we’ve both risen to the challenge in a significant way. As we’ve often mentioned, we’ve always had producer minds and shared our thoughts about the movie or exciting ideas, but those weren’t our main responsibilities. However, now that it’s our job, it’s fantastic because we genuinely understand this film and I believe we share a unique connection with it. Let’s hope we can continue in this role, even if it’s off-camera, and create something truly remarkable behind the scenes.
If Zombies 5 Happens, When Will It Release?
If a fifth Zombies movie is ever confirmed, the following query will be about its release date. Given that there’s no formal announcement yet regarding a fifth installment of the Zombies film series, there is currently no known release schedule for the prospective sequel.
So far, there has been a gap of between two to three years between each new movie release in the series.
- Zombies – 2018
- Zombies 2 – 2020
- Zombies 3 – 2022
- Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires – 2025
This most recent addition to the extended film series had the longest production delay, taking about three years from its initial announcement in 2023 before finally premiering on the big screen.
If, as actor Milo Manheim hinted, this marks the beginning of a new trilogy, it’s reasonable to assume that the series will revert to the frequent release pattern similar to its initial three movies.
It appears that Disney plans to release another highly anticipated sequel to a Disney Channel Original Movie, “Descendants: Wicked Wonderland,” next year. Considering this, it seems rather improbable for another sequel, specifically “Zombies 5,” to come out in 2026. Instead, it’s more likely that Disney will spread out these significant releases, meaning that if “Zombies 5” does happen, we might expect it in 2027.
