Fans eagerly awaiting Colleen Hoover‘s “Verity” adaptation will find themselves waiting a little longer, as the movie release is scheduled for later in 2026.
Michael Showalter’s film produced by Amazon MGM Studios will now hit theaters nationwide on October 2, 2026 instead of its original release date of May 15, 2026. Anne Hathaway serves as the leading actress in this project, with Dakota Johnson, Josh Hartnett, Ismael Cruz Cordóva and Brady Wagner also featured in the cast.
On October 2, 2026, the upcoming film by Director Alejandro Iñárritu, featuring Tom Cruise, will hit theaters as well. This movie, currently without a title, is being distributed by Warner Bros.
Nick Antosca penned the “Verity” script as a follow-up to the writings of Hillary Seitz, Angela LaManna, and the duo of Will Honley and April Maguire. The producers for this project are Hathaway, Hoover, Showalter, Antosca, Alex Hedlund, Stacey Sher, and Jordana Mollick.
The story revolves around struggling writer, Lowen Ashleigh, who’s tasked by Jeremy Crawford to finish off books in a series authored by his late wife, Verity Crawford, following an unexplained accident. As Lowen delves deeper, she discovers a hidden manuscript that could potentially uncover secrets about the family’s past.
After the summer blockbuster success of Sony’s movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel “It Ends With Us“, featuring stars like Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and Brandon Sklenar, her works have become highly sought-after in Hollywood. Her book “Verity“, which she self-published in 2018, was later acquired by Grand Central Publishing in 2021, eventually climbing the charts to become a top seller on the “New York Times” bestseller list.
Back in 2024, I had the pleasure of being directed by the talented Lisa Showalter for the Amazon MGM Studios film “The Idea of You”. This movie, which also featured Nicholas Galitzine, was an adaptation of Robinne Lee’s novel of the same name and the lovely Anne Hathaway was my co-star. It was truly a memorable experience working with such a skilled director!
