Twisty Blumhouse Thriller Drop Now Streaming on Peacock: How to Watch

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement about the chilling new movie “Drop” from director Christopher Landon (known for “Happy Death Day” and “Freaky”). This spine-tingling thriller is now available to stream on Peacock. Penned by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, it’s another fantastic collaboration between Universal Pictures and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse production house.

Meghann Fahy, known from “Sirens” and “White Lotus,” plays Violet, a single mom and psychologist who specializes in helping abuse victims. In the story, she’s mysteriously urged to murder her attractive dinner companion, Henry (Brandon Sklenar from “It Ends With Us”), through chilling messages sent to her phone via AirDrop. If she refuses to follow these malevolent commands, her son, Toby (newcomer Jacob Robinson), and younger sister, Jen (Violett Beane from “The Flash”), will face dire consequences.

Drop director Christopher Landon on working for Blumhouse

Landon mentioned in the production notes that he has maintained a long-term collaboration with Blumhouse, particularly Jason, due to the high degree of creative autonomy they offer their directors. Essentially, as long as a movie can be produced within a specified budget, the director has control over it. This freedom is invigorating and likely the reason many filmmakers continue to work with them.

He goes on to explain: “I was drawn to creating a tribute to ’90s suspense flicks, tracing back to the works of Hitchcock and De Palma. Yet, I wanted to incorporate a contemporary twist at its core. This idea intrigued me greatly. Moreover, it provided an opportunity for me to express my admiration for movies like Red Eye. That film is one of my favorites and I believe it doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. It’s a masterfully crafted, intense thriller confined within a compact setting.

The following actors complete the cast: Reed Diamond from “Orphan Black: Echoes,” Gabrielle Ryan of “Debris,” Sarah McCormack known for “The Blondey Way,” Jeffery Self starring in “Search Party,” Ed Weeks recognized for “The Mindy Project,” and Travis Nelson starring in “The Lake.” The film was overseen by executives Blum and Ron Lynch. Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Cameron Fuller were the producers.
