Peacock Hikes Subscription Prices By $3 Per Month as the Arrival of the NBA Looms

Peacock is increasing its monthly subscription fees for both its advertisement-inclusive and ad-free options, and at the same time, introducing a more affordable plan that offers fewer features.

The cost for both the advertisement-supported and advertisement-free versions of the NBCUniversal streaming service will increase by $3 apiece, bringing their respective prices to $10.99 per month and $16.99 per month. These price increases are significant, making Peacock the most expensive ad-supported streaming option currently available on the market.

Starting July 23 for new users and August 22 for current ones, the yearly subscription costs will be increased. For Premium with ads, it will be $109.99 per year, while for Premium Plus without ads, it will be $169.99 annually.

Simultaneously, Peacock is introducing a fresh level called Peacock Select, priced at $7.99 monthly or $79.99 yearly. This Select tier offers current seasons of NBC and Bravo series, as well as some library content. The intention behind this tier is to provide an affordable entry point for the platform.

After experiencing substantial success with the latest season of Love Island, as well as the upcoming arrival of NBA programming this fall, Peacock has decided to increase its prices. Alongside these offerings, Peacock’s content includes the series Poker Face, an upcoming spin-off of The Office titled The Paper, and a variety of Universal films such as How to Train Your Dragon and Wicked.

However, NBCUniversal now places significant emphasis on sports programming, catering to the NFL during autumn and winter, followed by the NBA. Additionally, they cover major events like the Olympics and various other live sporting activities.
