First Look at Samuel L. Jackson Starring in Taylor Sheridan’s Spinoff ‘NOLA King’

The news is confirmed: Samuel L. Jackson will feature in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming drama series, titled “NOLA King,” which is a spin-off from his Paramount+ series, “Tulsa King.

In the forthcoming third season of Tulsa King, set to premiere in September, we’ll get to know Jackson as a new character. [Look at the photo above for a sneak peek.]

NOLA King” introduces Russell Lee Washington Jr., who forms an alliance with Dwight Manfredi (portrayed by Sylvester Stallone) during a decade in federal prison. Upon release, the Renzetti crime family from New York sends him to Tulsa to eliminate Dwight. However, he becomes inspired by what Dwight has built in Tulsa and intrigued by the prospect of fresh starts. As a result, he decides to return to his long-abandoned hometown of New Orleans after 40 years, seeking to mend ties with his loved ones and reclaim the city that once belonged to him. This decision, however, draws the ire of his old associates in New York and exposes him to both criminal and police threats from his past in New Orleans.

The upcoming television series will feature the Hateful Eight actor in his debut as the main character. Prior to this, he had starred in several limited series, including Apple TV+’s The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey and Marvel’s Secret Invasion.

Despite this, the casting is another significant achievement for executive producer Sheridan and Paramount+. In 2023, Jackson was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the actor with the highest-earning box office total in history, with his films (such as those from the Avengers franchise, classics like Pulp Fiction, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and hits like Jurassic Park) generating over $7 billion collectively. This talented actor has starred in more than 150 films.

The series NOLA King is overseen by the team of Sheridan, Stallone, Jackson, Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox in their executive producer roles.
