[This story contains spoilers for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot.]
Jennifer Love Hewitt publicly addresses and clarifies the longstanding speculation about any tension between herself and her co-star from ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’, Sarah Michelle Gellar.
In a recent chat with Vulture, the actress who starred in the latest I Know What You Did Last Summer movie mentioned that she hasn’t had a conversation with Gellar since the initial release of their 1997 film. However, she clarified that there’s no underlying tension or drama between them.
He expressed his puzzlement over the supposed conflict with the actress from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, saying, ” frankly, I can’t explain what it was or how it happened.” He then went on to question why people seem to prefer complex narratives that pit individuals against each other, stating, “why must we always be at odds with one another, instead of supporting each other?
She stated, “I haven’t had any contact with Sarah since I last saw her at the release of the first movie, which was when I was 18 years old. That’s what makes it amusing to me. People would say, ‘Respond to her!’ And I would reply, ‘What is there to respond? I haven’t had any contact with her.’ From my perspective, our relationship remains fine. I’m just puzzled about where this unexpected interaction is coming from.
Last week, I was eagerly anticipating running into Hewitt at the premiere of the new movie, but as it turns out, we didn’t cross paths. Sarah Gellar clarified on her Instagram that our schedules simply didn’t align for a meet-up.
Many people have asked, but I didn’t get a chance to meet Jennifer Love Hewitt, who was terrific in the movie. I was spending time with my children during the main event on the red carpet, and unfortunately, JLH wasn’t at the afterparty. These events can be chaotic, and I couldn’t take pictures with many of the cast members. However, that doesn’t diminish my admiration for their talents. Some experiences are best enjoyed in person rather than shared online.
The recent remake of “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” released on Friday, centers around a fresh group of friends being hunted by an ominous figure who is aware of a horrific event from their past. Originally portrayed by Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr. reappears in this updated version as well. Interestingly, Gellar’s character was killed off in the 1997 film but makes a surprising return in the reboot through a dream sequence. Newcomers to the franchise include Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, and Gabbriette Bechtel.
