Chris Martin is letting his audience know that it’s possible they could appear on the giant screens during one of Coldplay’s performances.
During their most recent performance, the lead singer of Coldplay playfully mentioned the controversial kiss-cam incident involving Andy Byron, CEO of Astronomer, which gained widespread attention online. On this particular evening at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin, he humorously cautioned the audience that they could potentially appear on the giant screen during their show.
He addressed a portion of the audience in a video shared on platform X, causing excitement with cheers and laughter. He then proposed an interactive element by explaining they would use cameras to display some viewers on the large screen. Therefore, he humorously suggested that anyone who hadn’t yet done their makeup should take a moment to do so now.

Indeed, that incident was undeniably a nod to the sensational kiss-cam controversy that has been trending on the internet for the past few days, sparking intense discussions across social media platforms. The whole drama unfolded during Coldplay’s concert in Boston on Wednesday night. In a kiss-cam segment, Byron was seen with his arms around Kristin Cabot, his top HR executive, but they quickly tried to hide once they noticed they were being broadcasted. Both Byron and Cabot are said to be married to others at present.
In the online videos showing the event, Martin made a light-hearted comment, saying, “Perhaps they’re involved romantically, or maybe they’re simply rather reserved.
Last Saturday marked the first live performance by Coldplay following the recent event. The video of this incident went viral online, leading to the temporary suspension of both Byron and Cabot. Since then, Byron has chosen to step down from his position. In a public announcement, the astronomer expressed their search for a new member to fill Byron’s vacancy.
The statement indicates that astronomers uphold the principles and traditions we’ve followed since our establishment. Our leaders are expected to model exemplary behavior in terms of conduct and responsibility, but unfortunately, this standard was not maintained recently. Andy Byron has resigned, and the Board has agreed to his resignation. The Board will now initiate a search for our new CEO while Pete DeJoy, cofounder and Chief Product Officer, continues as the interim CEO.
The statement goes on to say, “Prior to this week, we were recognized as a trailblazer in the DataOps sector, assisting data teams in powering various applications ranging from advanced analytics to production AI. Although public perception of our company might have shifted suddenly, our product and our commitment to our customers remains unchanged. We are still focusing on what we excel at: helping our customers tackle their most challenging data and AI issues.
