Shia LaBeouf Settles Sexual Battery, Abuse Lawsuit From FKA Twigs

Shia LaBeouf has resolved a legal dispute with FKA twigs, who claimed that he subjected her to persistent mistreatment and intentionally passed on a sexually transmitted infection to her.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’d rephrase it like this: Yesterday, I learned that my favorite artist, FKA twigs (real name Tahliah Debrett Barnett), and her lawyer announced a private agreement regarding some matters. The specifics of the settlement are under wraps for now. Initially, a trial was set to kick off in September, but it seems that’s been postponed due to this resolution.

In 2020, the musician lodged a complaint against an actor, accusing him of sexual misconduct, physical violence, causing emotional harm, and negligence. She claimed that the actor had a pattern of mistreating women over a prolonged period.

As stated in the lawsuit, it is claimed that the two first encountered each other in the year 2018, approximately when LaBeouf completed work on Honey Boy. Shortly following this, Barnett moved in with him. The complaint alleges that LaBeouf subjected Barnett to a prolonged barrage of verbal and psychological abuse, which eventually escalated into physical violence. The lawsuit further states that during one particular incident, LaBeouf violently shoved Barnett against his car and choked her. Remarkably, the complaint also mentions that LaBeouf kept a loaded firearm near their bed at all times.

According to Bryan Freedman, a lawyer for the musician, Barnett was “exposed to intense physical violence from LaBeouf.” In his complaint, he stated that after she fell asleep, Tahliah woke up to find LaBeouf standing over her and forcefully squeezing her body and arms against her will. Subsequently, LaBeouf put his hands around Tahliah’s neck and started choking her while saying, “If you don’t stop, you will lose me.

Karolyn Pho, who used to be Shia LaBeouf’s girlfriend, is also mentioned in the lawsuit as someone who reportedly experienced abuse at his hands.

When the lawsuit was initiated, LaBeouf confessed to the New York Times, “I can’t claim to know how my actions affected others. My alcoholism and aggression are not justified by any explanations. All I have are justifications. For years, I have been abusive to myself and those around me. I have a history of causing harm to the people who matter most to me. I am ashamed of this past and apologize to those I’ve hurt. There isn’t much else I can really add.

The performer was managed by Shawn Holley from the law firm Kinsella Holley Iser Kump Steinsapir LLP, a firm known for representing figures like Michael Jackson, Danny Masterson, and Justin Bieber.
