As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve noticed an intriguing twist in the world of characters: Luigi Mangione, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and Sam Bankman-Fried have all stepped into the spotlight, taking on new, fictional personas! It’s fascinating to see how they’re adapting to their roles.
The latest offbeat play, “Luigi: The Musical,” has been a hit in San Francisco, with performances selling out quickly. It humorously explores the true events surrounding Mangione, who is facing accusations of murdering the CEO of UnitedHealthcare, and his unusual prison companions – Diddy and Bankman-Fried, both charged with sex trafficking and crypto fraud cases.
The popular production “Luigi: The Musical” in San Francisco is selling out shows, as it humorously portrays the real-life situation of Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare’s CEO, sharing a cell with Diddy and Bankman-Fried, who are facing charges for sex trafficking and crypto fraud.

The offbeat musical “Luigi: The Musical” has been a hit in San Francisco, selling out performances due to its satirical take on the true story of Mangione, accused of murdering UnitedHealthcare’s CEO, and his incarceration alongside Diddy and Bankman-Fried, who are under investigation for sex trafficking and crypto fraud.
As long as the show continues to run, its creators are planning to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, along with considering potential performances in New York and Los Angeles for the future.
This comedy was crafted by four stand-up comedians inspired by the news about the bunkmates, and it satirically explores aspects of the alleged crimes they’re accused of, such as Mangione’s McDonald’s hashbrowns stop that resulted in his arrest. The tale is presented in a ballad format. Additionally, it includes an amusing tap dance routine involving Diddy and Bankman-Fried, a romantic storyline between the two characters, as well as other fantastical elements. However, it also delves into the genuine public fascination surrounding these men’s lives.
Nova Bradford, lead writer and director of the show, mentioned that these three men symbolize critical aspects of society that have seen a significant decline in public trust lately – healthcare, Hollywood, and the tech/VC/finance sector. The show intends to delve deeper into this issue by focusing not on the specific deeds of these individuals but rather understanding the role these figures play within our collective consciousness and what it says about us as a society when we’ve lost faith in institutions meant to uphold us.
The musical that Bradford co-wrote with Arielle Johnson, André Margatini, and Caleb Zeringue was initially planned for a limited run at the 49-seat Taylor Street Theater in San Francisco. However, it sold out quickly, leading to a move to The Independent, a larger theater seating 350 people. It continues to attract audiences, particularly younger and those not traditionally drawn to theater. Unfortunately, The San Francisco Chronicle was less positive in its review.
Although Mangione receives recognition, the creators clarify that they do not aim to endorse or condemn his reported actions. Instead, the show seeks to portray the diverse opinions among audience members.
It seems that Zeringue is pointing out that various individuals respond differently to art, influenced by their personal beliefs. He believes this diversity of responses indicates high-quality artwork.
The 90-minute performance places significant emphasis on audience interaction, as stated by Bradford, and the creators are intentionally including these engagements within the musical as it undergoes further refinement. Additionally, they’re contemplating the possibility of introducing a second act.
Bradford hopes that no matter what one’s perspective might be, they will find themselves pondering more questions after watching the show than they did when it started.
