Lindsay Lohan Wants to Do “Some More Serious, Dramatic Roles” After ‘Freakier Friday’

Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis have reunited once more, marking 22 years since they shared the screen in the cherished film “Freaky Friday.

On “Freaky Friday,” the pair, Tess and Anna Coleman (mother and daughter), find themselves switched again just like in the first movie. In this new tale, they learn that perhaps a bolt of lightning can cause the same switch more than once.

At the premiere of “Freakier Friday” in L.A. on Tuesday, I shared with The Hollywood Reporter my excitement about the upcoming sequel. I mentioned that this time around, it’s not just bigger, but we have more tales to spin. It’s a four-way swap and there’s more music involved, which is fantastic. Any chance for me to channel Lucille Ball’s hilarity, count me in!

For two decades now, Lindsay Lohan and I have stayed good friends, a bond forged from our shared experiences back when we collaborated. As she puts it, “She stood by my side during a period of my life when my own mom was preoccupied with my other siblings. In L.A., she became like another mother figure to me. Over time, this connection has kept us quite close, and we’ve always managed to stay in touch.

As a gamer, I always make it clear from the start: “I just want you to be comfortable and at peace around me. I’m here as your safe haven; there’s no pressure or expectations. I don’t want this interaction to feel like a transaction; I want it to be filled with love.

The movie represents Lindsay Lohan’s resurgence on the silver screen, following her Hollywood reentry through a string of Netflix productions in recent times. In the future, the actress expressed enthusiasm about a TV project with Hulu that she finds intriguing and aspires to explore more serious, dramatic roles. She also mentioned her affection for romantic comedies, considering them her comfort zone and where her fans desire to see her, but is open to tackling diverse roles such as action-packed films. Essentially, she aims to present audiences with an unexpected side of herself.

As a gamer, I’m back for the sequel, and once again, the charming Chad Michael Murray is alongside me. He joked about working with Lindsay Lohan, saying, “I’ll hop on their success bandwagon any day! Coming into this project was uncertain; you never know what’s in store, thinking, ‘Oh boy, let’s not mess it up.’ But they’ve done it again – the sequel is just as good, if not better than the original. I can’t help but admit, they really delivered!

At the movie’s debut, the imaginary band Pink Slip delighted attendees with an unexpected performance before the show, and Lohan was accompanied on the red carpet by her fellow actors from “The Parent Trap,” Lisa Ann Walter and Elaine Hendrix.

Freakier Friday hits theaters Aug. 8.
