Sony’s unscripted studio Maxine Productions is adding to its executive team.
Anneka Jones has been appointed as the executive vice president of development and current programming at Maxine, a production company known for shows like “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” on ID and “Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story” on Prime Video. This appointment brings Jones back together with Maxine’s founder Mary Robertson, as they previously collaborated at Left/Right.
For over a decade, I’ve had the good fortune of collaborating with Anneka at Left/Right. From my personal experience, I can attest to the reasons she’s highly respected in the industry. She is an energetic and adaptable executive and producer, able to blend journalistic precision with sharp business acumen. Her arrival at Maxine signals a significant milestone, as we continue our streak of achievements and expand our lineup of nonfiction projects. I’m excited for what lies ahead in our shared journey.
Jones expressed his excitement about partnering with Mary, a trusted colleague and friend, along with her talented team at Maxine. He feels privileged to contribute to Maxine’s impressive accomplishments by increasing its output capabilities and boosting its innovative projects.
For two decades, Jones served at Left/Right, rising to the position of chief content officer towards the end. Throughout her tenure, the company churned out documentaries and series such as Showtime’s ‘The Circus’, FX’s ‘The New York Times Presents’, HBO’s ‘Celtics City’, various episodes of ‘Frontline’ on PBS, and numerous shows for HGTV. Before joining Left/Right, Jones was involved in MTV’s documentaries like ‘Choose or Lose’ and ‘True Life’.
Maxine’s schedule also features ID and HBO Max’s “The Downfall of Diddy”, Peacock’s “Girls Gone Wild: The Real Story” and “June”, a documentary on June Carter Cash, streaming on Paramount+.
