Skyler Gisondo aims to transition from working on a film set in the Fortress of Solitude, to being part of a project centered around the concept of the circle of trust.
The actor, recently finished with his portrayal of Superman, is in negotiations to join the cast of the upcoming movie in the Meet the Parents series. Original stars such as Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson, and Blythe Danner will be reunited with a new addition, Ariana Grande, in this film set for release in cinemas on November 25, 2026. John Hamburg, who contributed to the script of the initial film in 2000 and its two sequels, is directing from his own script.
The producers behind this project are Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal (from Tribeca Productions), Jay Roach (Delirious Media), as well as Ben Stiller and John Lesher (Red Hour Films). Matt Reilly, Universal’s executive vice president of production development, along with Jacqueline Garrell, the director of production development, are responsible for overseeing this project within the studio.
Under Roach’s direction, the movie “Meet the Parents” revolves around a character played by Stiller, who is struggling to win over his girlfriend’s domineering father, portrayed by De Niro. The original film released in 2000 grossed over $330 million globally, and its sequel, “Meet the Fockers” from 2004, which introduced Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand to the cast, was even more successful, earning a staggering $522 million worldwide.
In the world of movie-making, I’ve been thrilled to note that Barry Roach took the reins for the first two installments, while Paul Weitz steered ‘Little Fockers’ in 2010. As per previous reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming film promises an exciting twist with Ariana Grande stepping into a tough-minded role as Stiller’s fiancée and Stiller’s on-screen son, Polo, getting a significant part too.
In this summer’s blockbuster “Superman” by Warner Bros., you might recognize Kyle Gisondo, who plays Jimmy Olsen. Known for movies like “Licorice Pizza”, “Booksmart”, and “Vacation”, as well as TV shows such as “The Righteous Gemstones” and “The Resort”, Gisondo was also Stiller’s son in the 2014 film “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”.
In a 2022 interview with The Hollywood Reporter to publicize his film “Me Time” alongside Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg, Hamburg remained evasive when queried about the possibility of another “Meet the Parents” sequel.
Hamburg stated that he won’t delve into that particular topic, but he has fond feelings for everyone concerned, and they continue to stay connected. He added that this seems to be all he wishes to share regarding the matter.
The InSneider was first to report on Gisondo’s involvement.
