66°North, the Icelandic outfitter for cold climates, has been in business for nearly a century. To celebrate its 99th anniversary this year, the brand is releasing a unique “99-Year Capsule” collection consisting of eight selected items – among them are two of their most recognized jackets, Snæfell and Vatnajökull, each available in only 99 units worldwide.

The brand is changing its logo for the first time, transforming “66” into “99”, as a symbolic gesture to celebrate this special event – it would have been impolite not to, indeed.

The heart of this collection includes the previously mentioned Snæfell and Vatnajökull jackets, two classic items that have been mainstays in 66ºNorth’s range. The revamped Vatnajökull now sports a predominantly black design with red stitch accents, and boasts a reinforced visor and an updated hood adorned with “Since 1926” on its peak. Constructed using Polartec’s Power Shield Pro Softshell, this jacket is lightweight, breathable, and versatile for handling different weather conditions, such as light rain.

For the 99th anniversary of Snæfell, there are two color choices available – “Walrus” and “Black”. This jacket, made from Polartec’s NeoShell material, offers exceptional protection against wind and water (up to 10,000 mm). A distinctive feature is the adjustable hood that swivels, allowing it to follow your head movement, ensuring your peripheral vision remains unobstructed as you move.

Furthermore, the assortment encompasses a revised edition of 66ºNorth’s Dyngja hoodie and a tee, both offered in either “Walrus” or “Black”. The label has also refurbished its Snæfell trousers with the “99” makeover, which come in a sleek all-black design featuring anniversary branding.

66ºNorth has earned a devoted fanbase in Iceland by providing clothing for the local community for over a hundred years. Consequently, they chose local photographer Anna Maggy for their “99-Year Capsule” campaign, featuring Reykjavík residents as models to depict “real individuals in authentic scenarios.” This, according to the brand, is a “homage to the generations who have donned 66°North through almost a century of Icelandic climate and transformation.

The 66ºNorth “99-Year Capsule” is available now at the brand’s website.
