Sarah Bock, Jack Cutmore-Scott and More Join Cast for ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ Reboot Pilot

The upcoming Hulu pilot for the revival of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is expanding its cast, joining Sarah Michelle Gellar and Ryan Kiera Armstrong who were already announced as part of the main cast.

The primary cast of the latest series consists of Faly Rakotohavana playing the role of Hugo, Ava Jean taking on Larkin, Sarah Bock portraying Gracie, Daniel Di Tomasso assuming the character of Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott depicting Mr. Burke.

Rakotohavana played key roles in the series “Unprisoned” and “Secret Society of Second Born Royals”, while Jean made appearances in “A Week Away” and “Law & Order: SVU”. Bock gained recognition for his performance in season two of “Severance”, and Di Tomasso has been seen in “Witches of East End” and “Major Crime” shows. Meanwhile, Cutmore-Scott is well-known for his work in both “Oppenheimer” and “Frasier”.

The initial announcement for the pilot episode of the reboot was made in February. Details about the storyline of this upcoming series are still scarce, but earlier reports to The Hollywood Reporter suggested that the new Buffy series will revolve around a fresh slayer named Armstrong. Sarah Gellar is expected to make recurring appearances as Buffy, a character she first portrayed in the WB-later-UPN show that aired from 1997 to 2003.

Nora and Lilla Zuckerman are slated to write, oversee, and serve as executive producers for the pilot produced by 20th Television and Searchlight. Chloé Zhao will direct and take on the role of executive producer under her Book of Shadows production company. Alongside her acting duties, Sarah Michelle Gellar will also executive produce, working alongside Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will act as executive producers through Suite B, while Dolly Parton is attached to executive produce via Sandollar. Previously, all of these individuals served as executive producers on the original Buffy series.

Initially, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was a 1992 movie featuring Kristy Swanson as the lead character. The script was penned by Joss Whedon, while Fran Kuzui took on directorial duties. Five years later, the television series premiered, with Sarah Michelle Gellar joining forces with Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Charisma Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, and James Marsters in the cast.

Boreanaz played the role of Angel consistently throughout the five-season run of the spin-off show “Angel” on The WB network.

Gellar unveiled that the revival had started its production process, as she uploaded an image of her ID badge and script from the initial reading session on Instagram on Tuesday. She simply wrote “Baby steps” as a caption for the post.
