Zohran Mamdani‘s popularity on social media persists, as his recent viral post showcases him collaborating with Staten Island legends, the Wu-Tang Clan, who are endorsing him for the Democratic Party’s New York City mayoral race.
On Thursday, I had the incredible opportunity to be Jamaal Bowman’s guest at the latest Wu-Tang concert held at New York’s Madison Square Garden! In a whirlwind night filled with excitement and awe, I found myself surrounded by some of the biggest names in hip-hop.
As I navigated through the crowd of shocked concertgoers, I managed to meet up with several Wu-Tang members like Inspectah Deck and U-God. But it wasn’t just Wu-Tang that made my night – I also crossed paths with Killer Mike and El-P from Run the Jewels, as well as The Lox’s Sheek Louch, Styles P, and Jadakiss!
Being a former rapper myself, the thrill of meeting these legends was indescribable. However, what truly left me starstruck was a lengthy conversation I had with Wu-Tang’s de facto leader, RZA, about the ongoing cost of living crisis. It was an eye-opening experience that I won’t forget anytime soon!

Mamdani, who unexpectedly triumphed in the Democratic primary election for New York mayor, has been applauded and gained hundreds of thousands of new supporters due to his campaign’s adept handling of social media, graphic design, merchandise, and the creation of viral videos that are multilingual, multicultural, and distinctly New York-focused. These videos, such as the one featuring Wu-Tang, embody a local atmosphere. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June, Mamdani’s graphic designer discussed the eye-catching visuals employed by Mamdani that incorporate various design influences, including Bollywood designs among others.
In various videos, Mamdani is spotted engaging with people directly in numerous underrated New York neighborhoods, as well as speaking fluently in languages such as Bengali, Hindi, and Spanish. A video of Mamdani walking through Manhattan and interacting with voters just a few days before the primary election received a significant response, earning nearly 90,000 likes and over 15 million views on platform X.
Mamdani’s engaging and fun videos significantly boosted his popularity, propelling him from a mere 1% in the polls in February to an impressive 56% by the July primary. These videos have garnered millions of views on social media platforms, inspiring other candidates, even his opponents, to adopt a similar friendly demeanor.
