In this game, it’s so captivating that you can’t help but imagine yourself as a courier or a rescuer for lost explorers off the beaten track. However, there’s one figure in the game causing quite a stir among players, and that’s none other than The Adventurer.
In the realm of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, it’s the action hero S.S. Rajamouli who shines brightest. Accompanying him is his son, S.S. Karthikeya. Renowned for his critically acclaimed films such as the recent Academy Award-winning Bollywood production, R.R.R., Rajamouli makes a significant impact.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at Hideo Kojima’s audacious approach to incorporating renowned film directors into his masterpieces. In this very game, Fatih Akin, the genius behind The Edge of Heaven, lends his talent as Dollman, while George Miller, famously known for Mad Max and Babe, graces us with Tarman’s presence.
As a gamer, I can’t help but feel a bit underwhelmed when I see the familiar face of S.S. Rajamouli pop up during gameplay. It’s not that I don’t appreciate his presence, but it seems like he’s showing up more often than not, and The Adventurer keeps getting dragged into these endless rescue missions.
In Death Stranding 2, when Sam Porter Bridges isn’t transporting goods or delivering pizzas to survival shelters, his primary task is rescuing and returning home lost explorers. These adventurers often find themselves unconscious or stranded in remote locations, requiring Sam to rescue them multiple times. Essentially, this recurring role of the adventurer serves as a humorous running joke that has extended beyond its initial intended duration, according to Kojima’s design.

Even my carefully designed monorail system and road networks fail to prevent this individual from getting lost in the challenging regions of the Australian mountains or swarmed by countless BT Watchers. It’s a humorous yet aggravating aspect of game design that contradicts Death Stranding 2’s typically soothing rhythm, overwhelming players with tedious tasks.
Indeed, this type of difficulty is what gamers anticipate and crave in a game such as this. Moreover, the character created by S.S. Rajamouli isn’t the most challenging aspect. Instead, another notable appearance involves the RackaRacka brothers, Danny and Michael Philippou, who are famous for their horror films like “Talk to Me” and “Bring Her Back.” Their role presents Sam with even tougher tasks, including urgent deliveries and risky cargo recovery missions.
In essence, this isn’t a genuine grievance from the community, it’s more like a playful tease that sometimes irks them. The missions aren’t as excruciatingly tough as a Soulslike game such as Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but for a game like Death Stranding, they still offer an unexpected degree of challenge.
