About two months ago, I stumbled upon the spin-off title from FromSoftware studio, Elden Ring: Nightreign, that was just hitting the market. Initially, this action RPG didn’t receive much praise when it debuted, but after developers consistently rolled out updates, opinions started to shift dramatically. Now, with over 90,000 reviews of Nightreign on Steam, a staggering 82% of them are overwhelmingly positive!
Nightreign and Shadow of the Erdtree great sale
Apart from receiving rave player reviews, FromSoftware studio has another cause for celebration – the games are selling exceptionally well. They recently announced that Elden Ring: Nightreign has surpassed 5 million players, while the expansion pack, Shadow of the Erdtree, has sold an impressive 10 million copies across all platforms (PS4, PS5, XBox One, XBox Series X/S, and PC).
Over the initial five days since its debut, Nightreign garnered playtime from approximately 3.5 million individuals.
Typically, both titles have performed exceptionally well. It’s worth noting that as of May this year, Elden Ring has managed to reach approximately 30 million players.
Sony acquires 16 million shares of Bandai Namco
We’ve gathered crucial information about the publisher of Elden Ring games, Bandai Namco, as well as updated sales data for FromSoftware’s major titles. Sony recently entered into a “strategic partnership agreement” with them, implying that they will have some influence over the content produced by Bandai Namco.
Sony recently made a substantial investment by acquiring approximately 16 million shares of the company, amounting to nearly 68 billion Japanese yen. This represents almost 2.5% of the total outstanding shares. Notably, this purchase further strengthens their existing significant stake in Kadokawa, which currently holds around 70% ownership of FromSoftware.
