Percy Jackson Season 2 Reveals First Original Character, Alison Simms

In the trailer for the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, there’s a character that some longtime readers are finding hard to recall from the books, however, Alison Simms (played by Beatrice Kitsos) is a fresh addition exclusive to the Disney+ series.

Scant details are known about this fresh character who doesn’t appear in Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson books, yet the tidbits available spark intriguing possibilities for how the series might adapt The Sea of Monsters’ narrative.

Alison was once a resident at Camp Half-Blood, but has since grown up and moved on with her life as an adult. Eventually, she teams up with Luke Castellan (known as Charlie Bushnell), joining him in his mission to bring down the gods. She fights alongside Kronos in this endeavor.

In the recently released trailer, Alison makes a quick appearance, roughly at the one-minute mark, brandishing a bow and arrow. Additionally, a somewhat blurry figure standing behind Grover on his left at approximately 52 seconds seems to be Alison, given the presence of the same bow and jacket as in the clear shot, strongly suggesting it’s her.

According to Rick Riordan’s novel “The Sea of Monsters”, the second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is set to premiere on December 10. In this new season, Walker Scobell takes on the role of Percy Jackson, Aryan Simhadri plays Grover Underwood, and Leah Sava Jeffries portrays Annabeth Chase. This season also introduces Daniel Diemer as Tyson, while returning cast members such as Bushnell (Luke) and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse) will reprise their roles from the first season.

What Else Might Fans Have Figured Out About Alison?

Due to limited details provided about the primary character, Alison Simms, who appeared in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, but not extensively in Rick Riordan’s original novels (with only a few minor characters introduced in Season 1), fans have been eagerly seeking out any available information regarding her background.

It’s being speculated that she might make an appearance exclusively in Season 2 of the show, with no plans for her to reappear in Season 3 (which has already been confirmed) or any subsequent seasons yet. However, these reports should be taken with a grain of salt, as they are still just rumors at this point.

In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, numerous viewers speculate that the latest teaser hints at the divine lineage of the character Alison. It’s been widely suggested among fans that given Alison’s preferred weapon – a bow and arrow – it’s plausible she is the offspring of Apollo, the god of archery in Greek mythology.

In the Greek mythology, Apollo and Artemis are deities chiefly recognized for their mastery over archery. However, unlike in the Percy Jackson universe, Artemis does not have any biological children. Instead, she is accompanied by an everlasting band of huntresses, who remain immortal and ageless, unless they meet their end in battle.

Given that Alison, an adult demigod, resides among humans and supports Luke in the ongoing conflict, it appears extremely improbable that she is a follower of Artemis, the Huntress. Consequently, it seems more plausible that she is indeed a child of Apollo.

It’s important to point out that excelling at archery isn’t limited only to children of Apollo in the Percy Jackson books. In fact, Frank Zhang believed that his proficiency in archery meant he was likely a descendant of Apollo, but it turned out that this assumption was incorrect in the subsequent series.

It’s uncertain if we’ll learn much about Alison, the initial key character introduced exclusively in the Disney+ series, before the second season premieres on December 10.
