A Chicago Fire Vet Was Revealed In First Trailer For Dick Wolf's New Streaming Show, And I'm Shocked

As a longtime fan of cop dramas and a devoted follower of Dick Wolf’s extensive oeuvre, I must say that “On Call” promises to be a refreshing departure from the familiar narrative patterns we’ve come to expect. The inclusion of Monica Raymund, a beloved alumna of both “Chicago Fire” and “Hightown,” is an exciting development that has me eagerly anticipating the series’ 2025 premiere.

When “On Call” premieres on streaming platforms for Amazon Prime subscribers, viewers will soon discern that this cop drama offers a fresh take unlike Dick Wolf’s usual productions such as the “Law & Order” series, the “One Chicago” shows, or CBS’ “FBI” dramas. However, it appears that aficionados will encounter a familiar figure from those realms when the show airs in 2025, as the initial trailer for the series has disclosed that a former star of “Chicago Fire” is included in the cast.

The series “On Call” features veteran Long Beach police officer Traci Harmon, played by Troian Bellisario from “Pretty Little Liars.” After the loss of a fellow officer, she’s tasked with training new recruits, one of whom is Alex Diaz, portrayed by Brandon Larracuente from “The Good Doctor.” Initially optimistic, his perspective will change as he grapples with the harsh realities of police work.

Job stressors are shown prominently in the initial trailer of the show, where it is also unveiled that Monica Raymund, who previously starred in both Chicago Fire and Hightown, will be a recurring character alongside well-known television personalities Lori Loughlin and Erik La Salle. Known for her portrayal of Gabriela Dawson over several seasons on the popular NBC series before departing after Season 6 to join Starz’s new drama, Raymund later made guest appearances in Seasons 7 and 8 of Chicago Fire. It appears that her bond with Dick Wolf continues to endure.

Despite not knowing who the character is yet, here’s a sneak peek of Raymund’s role in his upcoming production titled “On Call”:

It’s likely we’ll uncover additional details about her personality shortly, plus perhaps resolve if Raymond’s new role takes place in the same world as Dawson. After all, unexpected events are common in such series.

In other roles, Lori Loughlin plays Lieutenant Bishop in the show “On Call“. This will mark her first significant TV role since the college admission scandal. However, she hasn’t been completely out of the spotlight. She reappeared as Abigail Stanton from “When Calls the Heart” in a few episodes of Hallmark’s “When Hope Calls“, and also made an entertaining guest appearance in the last season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm“. Additionally, she returned for the final season of “Blue Bloods“.

Currently, Erik La Salle is coming back to TV with a significant role after eight seasons on ER as Dr. Peter Benton. For the show On Call, he’ll be acting as Sergeant Lasman and will also take up roles as an executive producer and director for certain episodes. In addition, Rich Ting from Tulsa King will share the screen as Sergeant Koyama.

Created collaboratively by Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf, the series titled “On Call” is set to debut its complete first season of eight episodes on Amazon Prime Video this coming Thursday, 9th of January.
