A Controversial Vanderpump Rules Star Stassi Schroeder Is Making Their Way to Vanderpump Villa

As a long-time connoisseur of reality TV, I must say that the resurgence of Stassi Schroeder in our screens is a fascinating spectacle to witness. Her journey from the original cast member of Vanderpump Rules to her controversial exit and now her return, has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride.

Stassi Schroeder, a controversial figure from the hit show “Vanderpump Rules,” is set to return to the world of reality TV. In a new deal with Hulu, Schroeder will front her own series titled “Stassi Says” and reconnect with Lisa Vanderpump for Season 2 of “Vanderpump Villa“. Schroeder initially appeared on Bravo’s “Vanderpump Rules” as an original cast member in 2013, staying until the show’s eighth season (in 2020), when she and fellow cast member Kristen Doute were dismissed following racially insensitive actions. This year, Doute returned to reality TV with Bravo’s “The Valley“.

In my role as a collaborator, I joined forces with Erin Foye and Jenna Rosenfeld to bring forth “Stassi Says.” Together with Scout Productions, we’ll be serving as executive producers for this exciting series. The series’ official summary goes like this:

“Stassi, constantly relatable, outrageously funny, yet somewhat unpredictable, serves as the anchor for a new group of humorous and turbulent characters. Each of them grapples with personal identity issues and significant life turning points. It’s Stassi who must navigate them all through their stormy seas.”

Schroeder is set to be part of the second season of “Vanderpump Villa,” a reality show focusing on the carefully selected staff of Vanderpump’s grand French villa, Château Rosabelle. Their task is to cater to the lavish demands of their wealthy guests. As a main cast member, Schroeder will be prominently featured. Vanderpump announced Schroeder’s inclusion in the show’s second season on Instagram with an exuberant joint video post.

In 2018, Stowers’ co-workers Schroeder and Doute reported her to the police, falsely accusing her of robbery following a cheating scandal involving Stowers and Taylor (a former cast member of “Vanderpump Rules,” who was in a relationship with Cartwright at that time). Stowers didn’t reveal this incident until 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests, which led to Schroeder and Doute’s termination in June 2020. Their apologies for their actions were met with some doubt, as critics felt they showed a lack of sincerity and didn’t grasp the gravity of the consequences of their actions.

In the month following her dismissal by Bravo, Schroeder had a conversation with journalist Tamron Hall, expressing that she was using this period to educate herself about her error.

Over the past three months, I’ve been learning from a teacher and discovering many things I wasn’t aware of before. It struck me that just because an issue doesn’t seem racially charged to me, it might be deeply connected to race for someone else. In this context, recognizing and acknowledging my white privilege and her experiences as a black woman is crucial. This realization has helped me understand that racial issues are indeed significant in her life, which means they matter to us both.

Prior to gaining fame with “Vanderpump Rules,” Schroeder previously featured in Season 8 of “The Amazing Race” and the series “Queen Bees.” However, it was the Emmy-nominated “Vanderpump Rules” that catapulted her into household recognition. Known for her memorable (sometimes harsh) remarks towards fellow cast members, Schroeder’s line, “I’m not really sure what I did to you, but I’ll take a Pinot Grigio,” is iconic in reality TV history. During her time on “Vanderpump Rules,” she also published her first book, “Next Level Basic: The Definitive Basic Bitch Handbook.” Since leaving the series in 2020, Schroeder has gotten married, welcomed two children, and released a second book titled “Off With My Head.” She now hosts her podcast, “Stassi.”

Is it likely that Schroeder’s comeback to reality TV will be met with applause or criticism, given the reactions on social media? Given the feedback, it seems that the former Vanderpump Rules star will have a successful return to television after working as a diversity coach for four years.
