‘A Man on the Inside’ Fills Out Season 2 Cast

Netflix has completed the cast expansion for the second season of “A Man on the Inside,” by inviting a total of 11 new actors to join the show’s comedic troupe.

Actors including Constance Marie, David Strathairn, Gary Cole, Jason Mantzoukas, Jill Talley, Linda Park, Lisa Gilroy, Madison Hu, Max Greenfield, Michaela Conlin, and Sam Huntington have been added to the cast of a series produced by Mike Schur (known for Parks and Recreation and The Good Place) and Universal Television. Mary Steenburgen was already cast for season two, while Ted Danson and Lilah Richcreek Estrada will return in their roles from the first season.

In the inaugural season of “A Man on the Inside,” we met Charles Nieuwendyk, portrayed by Danson, a former professor who found himself working alongside private investigator Julie (Estrada). Their joint venture saw them assuming undercover roles within a retirement home to unmask the culprit behind a series of thefts. As we move forward into season two, Charles embarks on a fresh mission at a college.

Steenburgen, who’s wedded to Danson, takes on the part of a once-acclaimed musician who significantly contributes to the latest investigation. Here are the descriptions for the other characters:

1. Danson plays a dedicated detective working tirelessly on this case.
2. Kidman portrays an enigmatic woman connected to the mysterious events unfolding.
3. Banderas embodies a charismatic businessman with secrets hidden deep within.
4. Gyllenhaal assumes the role of a young, ambitious assistant to Danson’s character.
5. Ritter portrays an eccentric scientist who provides valuable insights into the investigation.

Marie, affectionately known as “With Love,” portrays Vanessa, a past trickster in the criminal world who assists Julie with information. Strathairn is cast as Dr. Cole, the revered and adored head of the English department at Wheeler College. In other roles, we see Cole in NCIS and Veep, where he plays Brad Vinick, a prosperous entrepreneur whose generous contribution to his college triggers events that eventually lead to Charles being hired. Lastly, Mantzoukas takes on the character of Apollo Lambrakis, a contractor with ambitions to pen the Great American Novel, as seen in Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Big Mouth.

In this production, Talley takes on the role of Holly Bodgemark, the constantly stressed provost at Wheeler College. Park portrays Elizabeth Muki, the head of the Fine Arts department at the same college. Gilroy plays Kelseigh Rose, a budding photographer and the recent spouse of Brad Vinick, who is also new to the scene. Hu assumes the character of Claire, a junior at Wheeler College who juggles several campus jobs in order to cover her tuition costs.

In this production, Greenfield (from The Neighborhood) takes on the role of Jack Beringer, the president of Wheeler College, whose responsibilities involve soliciting funds from affluent alumni. Conlin (known for her role in Bones) portrays Andrea Yi, an economics instructor at Wheeler College who is eager about the upcoming transformations at the institution. Huntington (previously seen in Being Human) plays Max Griffin, a controversial journalism professor at the college.

A Man on the Inside is inspired by the Academy Award-nominated documentary The Mole Agent. The series is executive produced by Schur, along with Morgan Sackett and David Miner from 3 Arts Entertainment, Maite Alberdi and Marcela Santibañez from Micromundo Producciones, as well as Julie Goldman and Christopher Clements from Motto Pictures.
