As the eldest offspring of filmmaker Tahir Hussain and his wife Zeenat, I, Nikhat Khan Hegde, have the privilege of being part of a family that’s deeply rooted in Bollywood. I share this journey with my brothers Aamir Khan, Faisal Khan, and sister Farhat Khan Datta.

It’s interesting to note that Aamir Khan, like many others, reciprocates the Raksha Bandhan tradition by tying Rakhi to his sisters. Nikhat shared with HT City that this isn’t just symbolic of his protection over them; it also signifies their mutual responsibility for each other’s well-being. In the same interview, she mentioned that their sister Farhat is currently not in India, so they will perform the rituals on her behalf while missing her dearly.

“Last year, I was away on travel, so she took care of it for me. Typically, we visit Aamir’s place and perform the small tradition of applying tika, with diyas and sweets. On those days, no one ever saves the sweets, they just eat them right away!,” Nikhat said, expressing that Raksha Bandhan is one of the festivals her family celebrates with great enthusiasm.

Aamir Khan’s latest appearance was in the 2022 movie Laal Singh Chaddha, co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. Despite a disappointing run at the box office, the film received positive feedback when it became available for streaming on OTT platforms. Upcoming projects for Khan include the sequel to his hit film Taare Zameen Par, titled Sitaare Zameen Par, which also features Genelia Deshmukh and is a sports drama.
