Aamir Khan regrets being absent from Junaid, Ira and Azad's lives; 'I knew everything about my team and directors but...'

As a dedicated follower of Aamir Khan’s career and personal life, I find myself deeply moved by his recent reflections on his past, particularly his regrets about being absent from his children’s lives during their formative years. It is heart-wrenching to hear him express his feelings of ignorance towards his children’s challenges while he was engrossed in his own professional pursuits.

In a recent interview on Rhea Chakraborty’s podcast, Chapter 2, Aamir Khan – a renowned actor in the Hindi film industry known for his versatility – shared insights about his life. Being a father to three kids, Ira Khan, Junaid Khan, and Azad Khan, Aamir has been open about various aspects of his life, including his personal lessons learned, the setback faced with Laal Singh Chaddha, and his longing for companionship at age 59. In this discussion, Aamir expressed remorse over missing out on spending more time with his children during their growing years, and admitted to not being fully aware of their struggles as he was mostly focused on his professional relationships with directors.

During the conversation with Rhea Chakraborty, Aamir Khan reminisced about how prioritizing his profession led to a loss of valuable moments spent with his children, Ira, Junaid, and Azad.

Aamir mentioned that while Ira, his daughter, is now on the mend after battling depression, she was deeply reliant on him during that time. Speaking about Junaid, who recently made his acting debut in Maharaj this year, the actor from Laal Singh Chaddha stated that he’s missed out on living life alongside him. Junaid is now ready to take a significant career leap, and as a producer of Laapataa Ladies, Aamir emphasized the importance of being there for his son during this crucial phase.

The 59-year-old actor mentioned his 9-year-old son as well, expressing that he’ll be a teenager soon. He reflected on this transition, acknowledging that his son’s childhood days are quickly slipping away.

Aamir Khan emphasized that his deep affection for his family never waned, despite his busy career. He mentioned, “My primary goal was always to captivate the audience. I was oblivious to their feelings or requirements during their formative years.” He further shared, “I was well-versed in the dynamics of my colleagues and directors, but I remained oblivious to the struggles my own children faced,” Aamir admitted, visibly moved by the sentiment.

During the same interview, Aamir Khan shared that at one point, he had considered leaving the Bollywood industry. However, his children, Ira and Junaid, discouraged him from doing so, stating it as a significant error in judgment.

Aamir Khan is set to appear in the new film directed by R S Prasanna, titled “Sitaare Zameen Par”. This movie also features Genelia D’Souza and Darsheel Safary as co-stars.
