Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan calls his divorce with mom Reena Dutta ‘mature thing’; reveals never seeing them fight till he was 19

Following the discussion about his parents’ divorce by Aamir Khan’s son, Junaid Khan, he expressed his thoughts on the matter. At age eight, his parents separated but maintained a united front for him and his sister, ensuring they felt nothing amiss. Interestingly, he recalled witnessing their disagreements for the first time only at 19, and never before. Junaid acknowledged that their decision to part ways was mature and it had no negative influence on his upbringing.

In a recent chat with Vickey Lalwani, Junaid Khan revealed that he spent his childhood living primarily with his mother, as his parents separated when he was eight years old. However, this situation never made him feel the impact of their separation. He thinks it was a wise choice for them, as they were able to find happiness in their separate lives, and he enjoyed a fulfilling childhood.

Khan shared that he and his sister Ira never witnessed any conflict between their parents, Aamir and Reena Dutta, until he turned 19. He noted that despite their separation in 2002, when they were together, they presented as a united front, implying that they managed to maintain a peaceful coexistence for the sake of their children. He added that while two good individuals may not always make a perfect couple, it seemed that both parents found happiness in their separate paths post-divorce.

Despite their separation, the actor mentioned that his family has remained tightly knit over time, making it a point to get together regularly – even post Ira Khan’s wedding to Nupur Shikhare.

Every Tuesday morning, I gather with a group of dedicated individuals who all reside within just a stone’s throw from me. We’ve made it a cherished tradition to share a cup of tea and catch up, an event that has evolved into a special bonding moment over the course of time.

Previously, Aamir Khan openly acknowledged that his work often kept him away from his family and children. However, as shared by Junaid, the actor’s presence mattered most when he was needed, so he never felt a void in their relationship.

I playfully remarked, “Dad was present, in a sense. He wasn’t completely gone. At times, I even found myself wanting to say, ‘You’re free to stay away, it’s all good.’

Instead, Khan shared that his father, once distant, has grown and taken a greater interest in the day-to-day lives of his children. He mentioned that, as the PK actor matures, he plans to devote more time to his family, which they appreciate the most.

In terms of his career, Junaid Khan initially appeared on screen with Maharaj in 2024, earning praise from critics for his acting skills. Now, he’s preparing to act alongside Khushi Kapoor in Loveyapa, and there’s already excitement among fans about its first song.
