As a seasoned gamer who has spent countless hours mastering the art of virtual combat, I eagerly await the release of Marvel Rivals. With over three decades of gaming under my belt and a soft spot for the underdog characters, I’ve been rooting for Hawkeye to join the fray since the game was first announced.
Marvel Rivals is set to debut with a lineup of 33 characters, but as of now, only 27 have been unveiled (at the time this article was written). Fans are eagerly waiting for the complete list of heroes when the game launches in December, and the latest reveal features Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye.
In various platforms, Hawkeye for Marvel Rivals appears to be a combatant who possesses both long-range and close-combat skills reminiscent of his Ronin phase.
Hawkeye Officially Revealed
For quite some time now, fans have been guessing that Hawkeye might be joining the game. However, a fresh character unveiling has provided fans with an explanation of his distinct skills and exclusive ultimate ability.
Clint Barton had a challenging upbringing marked by difficulties from an early age. However, he persisted and overcame these hardships, eventually honing his skills to the point of becoming an extraordinary and exceptionally precise marksman.
The breakdown of Hawkeye’s abilities includes:
Attacks
- Piercing Arrow – Shoots a straight, powerful arrow
- Blast Arrow – Clint shoots three explosive arrows at the same time (requires reload)
Abilities
- Crescent Slash (LSHIFT) – Clint takes out his katana and slashes forward; this attack allows Clint to launch enemies into the air away from him.
- Hypersonic Arrow (E) – Hawkeye shoots an arrow that deals damage to enemies in its path.
- Ronin Slash (V) – Hawkeye’s melee ability deals damage to nearby enemies, but it can also be used to deflect incoming projectiles.
- Skyward Leap (SPACE) – Clint has the ability to double jump, which allows him more movement on the playing field.
- [Passive Ability] Archer’s Focus – Holding the fire button enhances the damage the Piercing Arrows can inflict on enemies.
- [ULTIMATE] Hunter’s Sight (Q) – Clint can project ‘After images’ of enemies in his view, and attacking these images will inflict damage on the corresponding enemy.
The Unmatched Sharpshooter
In terms of gameplay, it’s often argued that Hawkeye’s equipment suits him best in one-on-one encounters. However, he also boasts impressive agility, allowing him to maintain a safe distance from his adversaries.
His extraordinary talent, combined with his powerful multi-shot capability, means he could deal immense harm to multiple reflections simultaneously, given the chance.
Without delay, fans of Overwatch will likely draw parallels between the new character and Hanzo, who is quite agile and an archer. However, when considering this character against Hawkeye, it appears that Hawkeye’s arrows are more focused on dealing damage, and he lacks a feature that clearly reveals enemy locations – a characteristic commonly found in snipers.
As Hawkeye joins the team, it seems like only Black Widow is absent from the Avengers roster at this point. Maybe we’ll find out she’s part of the group through one of the leaks before the game comes out; let’s hope so!
In the debut of Marvel Rivals on December 6 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Hawkeye will be joined by a total of 33 characters in the game’s lineup.
