As we approach its 2024/25 season, the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi announces plans to take things to the next level with an action-packed schedule of events.
Before the upcoming season, DCT brought in Shaquille O’Neal to reveal their latest calendar and Steve Harvey for a subsequent video. The schedule centers around the theme “Passion is the Reason,” aiming to spark new passions and interests through a variety of events. This month on the calendar, Abu Dhabi is set to welcome its inaugural Animenia convention, a five-day event that honors anime, cosplay, and gaming. The convention signals the start of an inclusive schedule for 2024/25, demonstrating Abu Dhabi’s commitment to inviting diverse communities by hosting specialized events. Additionally, the NBA is slated to come back to the UAE capital in October with its annual Abu Dhabi Games, sponsored by ADQ. Much like previous years, the tournament includes two preseason games and various fan-focused activities.
2024’s year-end events in Abu Dhabi make it an unmissable destination. A variety of music festivals, such as Saadiyat Nights, Afterlife, and Wireless Festival Middle East featuring SZA, will offer a global musical experience. Art aficionados will also have the opportunity to admire works by 70 local and international artists in the inaugural Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial. To top it off, Abu Dhabi will be center stage in the sporting world with the annual Formula 1® Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship taking place in December.
2025 will see a variety of events that stimulate the senses through food, history, and the arts. The neo-culture festival BRED Abu Dhabi, which previously hosted streetwear brands, contemporary artists, and international musicians, is set to return to Yas Bay Waterfront in April. At Louvre Abu Dhabi, one of the newest additions to the art scene, the gallery will showcase art among its renowned artifacts. Furthermore, the annual Al Hosn festival and Culture Summit Abu Dhabi are planned for January and early spring respectively, both highlighting heritage and history.
