As a seasoned gamer with an undying passion for football and a soft spot for AC Milan, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat upon witnessing the unveiling of their 125th anniversary kit. This isn’t just any ordinary jersey; it’s a testament to the club’s rich history and the shared memories we fans hold dear.
On Thursday, AC Milan and PUMA revealed the special 125th-anniversary kit for AC Milan, a collection inspired by their rich history, which was chosen by dedicated AC Milan supporters through a participatory contest.
This exclusive capsule assortment encompasses the Authentic Player Jersey, Goalkeeper Jersey, a classic Football design, and a unique Retro Style Jersey with a special edition twist. Interestingly, only 1,899 pieces of this retro-inspired jersey will be produced, symbolizing the club’s establishment year, and it comes in a long-sleeve variation without any sponsor logos apart from the PUMA emblem.
As a devoted AC Milan fan, I jumped at the chance to shape our jersey through the “Design Our Jersey, Design Our Legacy” campaign. It was an incredible experience to choose design elements that echoed the club’s rich history. One such element is the broad stripe design, which first graced the Rossoneri jersey in the 1950s and has since become a classic motif symbolizing the team’s most memorable moments. Additionally, the badge serves as a tribute to AC Milan’s roots, harkening back to its original emblem as the Milan Football & Cricket Club when it was founded all those years ago.
In his own words, Franco Baresi, the honorary vice president of AC Milan, expressed that this jersey embodies the essence of the club – its passion, heritage, and aspirations for the future. Being part of this team for 50 years across various positions, he views this milestone as a joyous occasion to celebrate and unite the entire family of Rossoneri fans.
On December 8, AC Milan’s women’s team will premiere their new uniforms during their Derby match against rival clubs. The men’s team will don these fresh designs on December 15, in a game versus Genoa at the San Siro. In an homage to classic styles, both teams will wear jerseys that only have numbers on them.
