Adam Levine Returns to The Voice Without Blake Shelton: ‘I Don’t Have to Deal with Him’!

One of my preferred television competition shows, “The Voice”, is set to debut in the 2025 TV schedule next week, and it’s welcoming back an original coach. To put it simply, Adam Levine will be returning to one of those iconic swivel chairs, and though Blake Shelton won’t join him this time, you can bet they’ll discuss their long-standing rivalry and deep friendship during the show.

As a die-hard fan eagerly awaiting the NBC series’ comeback on Monday, I can’t help but reflect on my role in this beloved show, returning after a five-year absence since I bid farewell. Intriguingly, during a recent interview, the topic of my co-star, the one and only Blake, cropped up.

I’m really enjoying being back on The Voice because I no longer have to interact with Blake Shelton, someone I don’t particularly care for. It’s been refreshing not having him around. He’s not the kind of friend I want to spend time with.

Wasn’t it obvious to everyone else too? It seems like Adam Levine and Blake Shelton just go together like peas and carrots. However, even though Season 27 might show that Adam Levine can coach without his longtime friend-rival, he still couldn’t resist taking a jab at Blake again. As he joked to People:

Well, I was only joking! Of course, I adore Blake. I felt compelled to start with a Blake-themed jest since he’s no longer part of the show, but they keep going as if nothing happened.

Without Blake Shelton around to spar with, Adam Levine now has control of the show’s dialogue. It will feel strange initially to see Adam without his longtime rival, as their friendly banter was a significant part of the show’s charm due to their strong camaraderie.

Adam Levine is set to join Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Bublé, and John Legend as coaches for the upcoming Season 27 of the show. Kelsea Ballerini will be making her debut as coach this season, while Michael Bublé enters his second season and John Legend starts his ninth. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Adam Levine and John Legend have been coaches at the same time, as Legend’s first season was actually during Levine’s last before Season 27. (Did you know they already have a group chat going on?)

When asked about coming back to “The Voice,” Levine expressed his joy by saying it’s “wonderful to be back” after taking some well-deserved time off. For eight years, he was a fixture on the show for sixteen seasons before departing, and during that absence, he cherished moments with family, embarked on tours, and worked on new music.

According to Levine, he no longer views “The Voice” as a contest, but rather as a platform for him to share his personal experiences with the show’s participants. Consequently, he may not come across as competitive as he once did in earlier seasons.

The performer has triumphed in three different seasons, a record that compares favorably to Legend’s single victory during Season 16 and Bublé’s sole triumph last season, but falls short of Blake Shelton’s nine titles amassed throughout his career. When questioned about potential competition this season, Levine responded with the following statement:

There’s simply no duplicating Shelton… What transpired between us (Blake and me) was incredibly organic, stemming from our deep-rooted friendship.

Levine referred to his chemistry with Shelton as “unforeseen” and “impromptu”. There’s speculation that Levine’s comeback might reunite Blake Shelton, but I’m simply eager to witness this unique interaction unfold. I can hardly contain my anticipation for Monday nights or streaming it the next day with my Peacock membership.
