As a long-time admirer of both Bella Hadid’s striking beauty and Adidas’ iconic athleticwear, it was disheartening to witness the controversy surrounding their recent SL72 campaign. However, I appreciate the swift action taken by Adidas CEO Bjørn Gulden in addressing the issue and offering an apology.
Adidas’ CEO, Bjørn Gulden, has publicly apologized for the contentious advertisement campaign for the SL72 featuring Bella Hadid. During a meeting with investors to discuss earnings, adidas also revealed a 12% increase in revenue during Q2, and it was during this call that Gulden addressed the recent controversy head-on.
During the earnings call, Gulden admitted that there were flaws in assembling parts of the campaign and apologized for these mistakes. He also clarified that adidas continues to maintain a relationship with supermodel Hadid, stating she remains a valued brand ambassador receiving payment according to her contract. Contrary to recent speculations, Gulden stated they have not received any indication from Hadid that she intends to sue adidas over the campaign controversy.
As someone who has always been passionate about social justice and advocacy, I wholeheartedly support and admire Gigi Hadid’s recent statement regarding her campaign with Adidas. Her unwavering commitment to standing by her Palestinian roots and promoting a world free of antisemitism is truly inspiring.
