Adidas Gains Momentum, Reporting a 12% Revenue Growth in Q2

As a gamer with a keen eye for fashion and a deep-rooted love for sports, I must say the recent financial success of Adidas has left me utterly thrilled! Growing up, I always admired the Three Stripes for their innovative designs and collaboration with iconic brands that truly resonated with the streetwear and gaming communities.

In the second quarter of its fiscal year, adidas, a leading sportswear brand from Germany, experienced a 16% surge in sales over a three-month period, amounting to €5.82 billion EUR. This growth is a positive sign for the brand’s momentum and has led them to raise their forecast for annual sales. They had previously increased their full-year guidance in early July, and this increase is now at a “high single-digit rate.” As a result, adidas’ sales for the first half of the year reached €11.28 billion EUR, representing an 10% year-on-year rise when adjusted for exchange rates.

The CEO, Bjørn Gulden, affirms positive developments and progress, stating that the company is “moving towards becoming a strong, thriving business.” The growth of our brand with consumers has been more rapid than anticipated. In Europe, our home market, revenues surged by 19.4%, and this upward trend was mirrored in Greater China, Japan, and South Korea. Similarly, in the Emerging Markets, Q2 revenues soared by 24.6% to reach €749 million EUR.

In North America, sales for the company dipped by 7.7% last year, primarily due to the termination of its lucrative partnership with YEEZY in 2022. Despite this setback, adidas intends to clear its remaining €150 million worth of YEEZY stock by the end of the year. Meanwhile, footwear sales saw a significant surge of 17%, but apparel sales only experienced a modest growth of 6%. The rise in apparel sales can be linked to the popularity of football trends, particularly replica jersey sales across Europe and Latin America.

In recent times, some significant partnerships with adidas have garnered attention, such as the Wales Bonner Sambas causing a stir in the footwear market. For several consecutive fashion weeks, this collaboration has been a top trend according to TopMob, making it one of the most coveted by both fashion and footwear enthusiasts. Additionally, Jerry Lorenzo’s adidas Fear of God Athletics line is back on the market, rekindling interest in the brand. The future impact of these collaborations on adidas’ growth remains to be seen.

Lately, adidas has stirred up controversy following the launch of a questionable marketing campaign featuring Bella Hadid for the SL72 revival. The public is expressing criticism, and it remains uncertain whether this incident could impact adidas’ financial performance in the future.
