As an ardent fan of Adnan Sami, I must say that his return to Bollywood music is like a long-awaited reunion with an old friend! His nine-year hiatus seemed to have flown by faster than a fly, and now he’s back in the recording studio, experimenting with new melodies.
In simple terms, TopMob was first to announce Adnan Sami’s anticipated return to Bollywood, having previously told our audience that he had sung a romantic song for Kasoor, set to be released soon. Now, Sami himself has shared his enthusiasm about this project and revealed that his nine-year absence wasn’t premeditated but rather a natural progression in his career.
For those unfamiliar, Adnan previously performed the renowned “Bhar Do Jholi Meri” song in Salman Khan’s blockbuster movie Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Besides Kasoor, he has also lent his voice to a tune in the upcoming Vicky Aur Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri. It remains uncertain which song will be launched first. Recently, Adnan spoke about the cause of his absence in an interview with HT City.
Adnan shared that he recently needed some personal time for relaxation, refreshment, and openness to new experiences, having just discovered some fresh material. It feels like yesterday since Bajrangi Bhaijaan and the performance of Bhar Do Jholi, making him realize how much time has passed. He’s eagerly anticipating his upcoming song, signifying that he’s now back in work mode and engaged with concerts.
For nine years, Adnan didn’t create any mapped-out plans, and he found those years slipping away as quickly as a fly moves. Yet, now, the artist is joyful to return to the recording studio and is engrossed in various experiments. Interestingly, Sami confessed that he has been involved in film scoring projects and independent music production recently, both of which have significantly grown in importance in his life throughout the years.
Adnan confessed he can be a bit leisurely, but clarified he’s never put out tunes merely to publish them. With a career spanning more than 35 years, Sami takes great pride in his extensive body of work. However, you may not find as much output as one might expect from such a long tenure. The reason for this is that Adnan’s musical style is deeply emotional; he doesn’t view music as a business but rather as a deep-seated passion.
As an ardent fan, I firmly believe that artists need a break to truly shine. Just like me, who yearns for a break to savor their comeback even more, it’s better they take one so the audience can exclaim, “He’s back!” rather than, “Here he is again!” – Adnan humorously put it.
