As a lifelong Aerosmith fan who has rocked out to their music since the days of my bell-bottom jeans and platform boots, this news hits me like a freight train to the heart. Growing up with their anthems as the soundtrack to my youth, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of nostalgia mixed with a tinge of sadness.
Aerosmith is retiring from touring.
On Friday, I took to social media to share some exciting – yet saddening – news from our beloved band. The source of this unexpected break is none other than our charismatic frontman, Steven Tyler, who’s dealing with an injury to his vocal cords. We’re all hoping for a swift recovery and can’t wait to rock out together again soon!
“For years, we’ve aimed to astound you with our performances. You’re aware that Steven’s voice is exceptional and unique. After months of relentless effort, he has been striving to regain his previous vocal prowess despite being under the best medical care. Regrettably, it appears that a full recovery from his vocal injury won’t happen. With a heavy heart, we’ve made a tough but necessary choice – as brothers in bandhood – to step away from touring.”
In 2023, Aerosmith decided to delay their entire “Peace Out: The Farewell Tour” because it was discovered that Tyler’s vocal injury was more severe than originally assumed.
In their announcement, the band likewise reminisced about their beginnings and expressed gratitude towards their supporters.
“In 1970, a flicker of inspiration gave birth to Aerosmith. You, our Blue Army, helped fan that spark into a roaring flame that has been burning for more than five decades. Some of you have been with us since the start, and it’s all of you who made us part of rock ‘n’ roll legend.”
“We feel deeply privileged that our music has found a home in yours. Whether it’s in every club, during epic tours, or at intimate personal moments, you’ve allowed us to be part of the soundtrack that shapes your life.”
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but share my heartfelt gratitude for each one of you who joined us on this last leg of our journey. A deep sense of appreciation goes out to our skilled crew, our amazing team, and the countless talented individuals who have made our historic runs possible. To you, the most incredible fans in the universe, a heartfelt thank you. Let’s keep our favorite tunes playing loud, now and forever. Keep on dreaming, because you’ve turned our dreams into reality. Dream On.
