After a Project-Packed 2024, Nicole Kidman Says This Year Will Be “Not as Crazy”

As a gamer, it’s tough to find someone juggling more projects than Nicole Kidman. Over the past year alone, she’s dropped movies like “Expats,” “A Family Affair,” “The Perfect Couple,” “Spellbound,” “Babygirl,” and season two of “Lioness.” Quite a lineup for one person!

By 2025, she returns with another movie titled “Holland”. In this film, she portrays an immaculate teacher and housewife in the quaint midwestern town of Holland, Michigan. However, she becomes suspicious that her husband (depicted by Matthew Macfadyen) might be leading a secret life. Alongside her friend, played by Gael García Bernal, she unearths a tangled web of secrets.

The Amazon Prime Video movie made its debut at SXSW in Austin on Sunday. Nicole Kidman told The Hollywood Reporter that she’s looking forward to some downtime soon, commenting that this year is less hectic compared to last year. She explained that while she has the projects “Holland” and “Nine Perfect Strangers,” after those, she’ll be taking a break for the rest of the year. Laughing, she said, “Well, I guess so!

Nicole Kidman is not only an actress but also a producer on the film “Holland,” which is directed by emerging talent Mimi Cave. According to the director, Kidman was an ardent supporter of the script and a strong advocate for her, stating that this has been the most significant contribution to the project. In essence, Kidman trusts and empowers directors, allowing them to have creative control once they are in charge.

Macfadyen found the script intriguingly bizarre, as he had not previously explored the mystery-thriller genre. He was captivated by its unique, stylish tone and enjoyed the fun aspect of it. After watching Mimi’s first film and being thoroughly impressed, he expressed a desire to be involved in her project.

Holland will start streaming March 27 on Prime Video.
