The DC Universe is gradually coming together, with “Creature Commandos” now on screen, and James Gunn’s “Superman” scheduled for release in cinemas this summer. Meanwhile, preparations are underway for other titles included in the first chapter of DCU: Gods and Monsters. Just last week, fans received news that Jason Momoa has been cast as Lobo and will feature in the movie “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”. Momoa appears enthusiastic about his new role, and he recently shared a popular video on social media that has garnered much appreciation from fans, including myself.
Not long after news broke about his role in DCU, the ex-Aquaman star echoed earlier sentiments expressing his desire to play Lobo and confirmed he’d finally been contacted. The Instagram post shared by the leading man was a bit more flamboyant, fitting both the actor’s style and the iconic comic book character he will embody. Take a look at the video snippet below where the Fast X co-star tantalizes fans with a peek at the Supergirl script:

It’s quite extraordinary, even dreamlike, to come across the “Woman of Tomorrow” script, marked as “For Lobo’s Eyes Only.” Being a comic book enthusiast, I find this post particularly fitting. What truly elevates it is the knowledge that Jason Momoa was puffing on a cigar while perusing the screenplay. A good cigar is undeniably one of Lobo’s signature traits – a rugged intergalactic bounty hunter. Moreover, I can’t help but mention Momoa’s charming photograph with Adria Arjona, his reported partner. Fans’ reactions are worth checking out: here are some examples.
- This is the role you were born to play. I can’t wait to see you shine! – kimmeecakes

As a big fan, I couldn’t hide my excitement when the Sweet Girl star hinted at his long-held ambition to embody the Main Man, a character first introduced in DC Comics back in 1983. In early 2023, he sparked anticipation with a cryptic video suggesting he had upcoming news from DC Studios. Fast forward a year, and it seemed he was already envisioning the props he’d use to bring this role to life. So, when the official announcement of his hiring came, it felt like the fulfillment of not just his dream, but that of countless fans as well.
With Jason Momoa now officially playing Lobo, there’s one exciting scene I’m eagerly anticipating him to deliver in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – a memorable moment, if you will.
Information about the plot of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is limited at present, but it’s been confirmed that Milly Alcock will portray the lead character Kara Zor-El. Alongside Alcock (and Jason Momoa), Matthias Schoenaerts has been cast as Krem of the Yellow Hills. Craig Gillespe, known for directing “I, Tonya,” is directing this upcoming superhero film, with a screenplay written by Ana Nogueira.
It’s looking like it will take some time until we can truly witness Dune actor in top form as Lobo, but his enthusiasm certainly has me even more eager for his DCU premiere. Frankly, he appears perfectly suited for this role, and I can hardly wait to see how he shapes it. Fingers crossed that the star of See does the character of The Last Czarnian justice.
The movie titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is scheduled to take flight at cinemas on June 26, 2026. Until then, enjoy Jason Momoa’s performances in “Aquaman” and its follow-up, “The Lost Kingdom”, which you can stream with a Max subscription.
