After Jimmy Kimmel And John Mulaney Turn Down Oscars 2025, There's A New Host Pick Fans Are Calling For, And I'm Here For It

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experiencing the highs and lows of The Oscars, I must say that the idea of co-hosting the event by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has me genuinely excited.

It might seem like a coveted opportunity for numerous individuals to host the Oscars, yet it appears that this isn’t the case this time around. Originally, organizers of the award show asked Jimmy Kimmel to repeat his hosting duties in 2025, but he chose to pass on the offer. Furthermore, A-list comedian John Mulaney was also approached for the role, but he too declined the challenging task.

It appears that while the organizers are facing some challenges, spectators are suggesting their ideal candidates from Hollywood – specifically, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman – for the hosting role in next year’s event. This suggestion emerged in a flurry of comments on an Entertainment Weekly Instagram post announcing Kimmel and Mulaney as this year’s hosts.

The most popular comment on this post, which has been liked more than 100 times, was a suggestion made by Reynolds and Jackman in the first Deadpool & Wolverine announcement video. This idea sparked a wave of enthusiasm among fans who have been urging the organizers to invite the amusing duo for the role.

  • They could ask Ryan Reynolds & Hugh Jackman! – @shelleyj9125
  • Everybody knows what they want: Hugh Jackman & Ryan Gosling 😄 – @melaniebri7

As an ardent admirer of the Oscars for quite some time, I’ve got to say, I’m quite fond of the concept. For one reason, it’s been a while since we’ve seen actors take the stage as hosts for an event that honors their significant accomplishments in the film industry. Even though they’re known for their humor, these two could inject a sense of gravity into the ceremony that seems to have been absent in recent editions.

It’s logical for Reynolds and Jackman to share a co-hosting role from a balance perspective, as they could divide responsibilities and stimulate each other in case the audience grows tired of the jokes. Their incredible chemistry, demonstrated by the blockbuster success of the current “Deadpool & Wolverine” movie, suggests that their stage presence would be captivating and side-splittingly funny.

Additionally, they would have an advantage due to Jackman’s previous experience as the host of the award show in 2009. Despite the fact that it has been more than a decade since he last hosted, the actor from “Logan” is widely recognized as one of the best hosts of the past two decades. This recognition primarily stems from his memorable opening musical montage. Moreover, Jackman has hosted the “Tony Awards” four times, making Reynolds’ choice an excellent decision given their shared history in the Marvel universe.

If the pair are chosen to host the Oscars, it’s bound to be an entertaining evening. After all, it seems unlikely that they can prevent Reynolds from donning his Deadpool costume throughout the night. Frankly, I’m eager for a sketch centered around his quick-witted, risqué character poking fun at the year’s biggest films by breaking the fourth wall.
