After Kemen Killed Valandil In Rings Of Power, I Can’t Stop Thinking About Leon Wadham’s Comments Regarding How It Will Impact His Character

As a die-hard fan of The Lord of the Rings universe and someone who has witnessed countless epic battles, political power plays, and complex character development, I must say that Kemen’s actions in “Halls of Stone” have left me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating what comes next.

Big spoilers for Rings of Power Season 2, Episode 5 – “Halls of Stone” – are ahead. If you need to catch up, you can stream The Lord of the Rings prequel with an Amazon Prime subscription.

In episode 5 of the second season of The Rings of Power, we witness a significant shift for Númenor and Kemen, Pharazôn’s son. To undermine the devout, he chose to seal their sacred site, leading to a confrontation with Valandil. In an unexpected twist, Kemen was fatally betrayed in the end, receiving a backstab from the new king’s son on the TV schedule for 2024. When I discussed this pivotal moment with Leon Wadham, who portrays Kemen, he shared insights into how this event will shape his character as the series progresses.

In the context of TopMob’s interviews for the second season of “The Rings of Power,” I had a conversation with the Númenor cast focusing on Episode 5. Wadham and I delved deeper into Kemen’s intense battle scene. With his history of abusive father dynamics and his personal pursuit of power and acceptance, he’s taking significant strides, but we’re left wondering about the potential repercussions of this particular action, as he hinted to me:

In my perspective, the outcome of his actions largely depends on how they’re perceived. You see, from Season 1 to Season 2, Kemen has undergone a transformation. Initially, he took a massive leap, made a bold move, but faced no repercussions. The old Kemen, who was patiently working towards respect and power, has now stepped out of that mindset. He seems to believe that he no longer needs to wait; instead, he can make daring moves and seize opportunities, knowing they might either succeed or fall short. However, the question remains: what could be the possible repercussions if things don’t go as planned?

After Kemen Killed Valandil In Rings Of Power, I Can’t Stop Thinking About Leon Wadham’s Comments Regarding How It Will Impact His Character

It’s clear that Kemen’s act of killing Valandil could lead to significant consequences, given that he now has to face the reactions not only from Pharazôn, but also Elendil who witnessed the incident, and Míriel. Since the man Kemen killed was deeply revered among his followers, it’s likely they won’t overlook his death easily. However, Kemen appears to be primarily concerned with handling his father’s response, as Wadham informed me.

Now, it appears he has taken someone’s life. The question becomes: Will there be consequences for his actions or will he be acknowledged for them? In the absence of punishment, one might interpret this as a positive outcome. Consequently, the course of action his father chooses will serve as a lesson to Kemen.

Title Suggestion: “Improving His Strategy: Charlie Vickers and Patrick McKay Discuss the Powerful Monologue of Sauron in Episode 2 of The Rings of Power

Contemplating the intriguing developments between Galadriel and Adar in “The Rings of Power”, I’ve been pondering on the insights shared by Morfydd Clark and Sam Hazeldine about the future direction of their relationship.

Let’s clarify things a bit. In their relationship, Kemen and Pharazôn exhibit abusive behavior. For instance, in the latest episode, Pharazôn manipulated Kemen by using details about Kemen’s mother as leverage to make him comply with his wishes. Therefore, if killing Valandil does not affect his father in any way, Pharazôn will view it as a win for himself.

However, if Pharazôn has a negative reaction, Wadham’s character will see his actions differently.

Consequently, there’s a chance that he might feel proud about his actions in upcoming episodes, or alternatively, he may end up regretting them.

It’s clear that Elendil, Míriel, and Eärien are likely to feel strongly about this situation due to their connections with Valandil. While Eärien supports the new king, her sympathy for Valandil is also evident as she extended a hand of help to him before his death. As such, it’s reasonable to assume that they won’t take his passing lightly.

Moving forward, expect the events to get intricate and intensely emotional. Keep tuning in, especially to see Kemen’s reactions, on Rings of Power, one of Amazon Prime’s top series, every Thursday night.
