After Mandy Moore Got Called Out For Fire GoFundMe, Her Brother-In-Law Revealed How Hilary Duff Is Helping

The wildfires in Southern California have been nothing short of catastrophic. Thousands of acres have gone up in flames, leaving an undetermined number of people homeless. Due to the fires’ location, numerous celebrities have felt the fire’s effects, with some experiencing production delays as various shows temporarily halted filming, and others being forced to evacuate their homes. Among those affected are Mandy Moore, a star from “This Is Us,” and her family.

Although Mandy Moore’s house wasn’t completely demolished by the fire, it did sustain considerable damage. Regrettably, her brother-in-law, musician Griffin Goldsmith, and his family, along with his parents, have also lost their homes in the same fires. Similar to many others, Goldsmith’s family has established a GoFundMe page to solicit funds for rebuilding and getting back on their feet. However, recently, there’s been controversy surrounding GoFundMe.

Why Mandy Moore Is Defending A GoFundMe

Mandy Moore has been updating fans about the fire via Instagram and she also used the platform to promote her brother-in-law’s GoFundMe for any fans who may want to contribute. This led some to criticize Moore for asking others to contribute. A few people assume that Mandy Moore, being a famous celebrity, is rich, and therefore could help her family rebuild all on her own. In a response on Instagram, she made it clear that she is helping out her family, and that assumptions of her wealth may be wildly off base. She said…

It’s not compassionate nor useful to doubt whether we’re assisting our own family, based on an estimated amount of money Google suggests someone has. In fact, our friend Matt initiated a GoFundMe campaign, and I’m spreading the word because people have inquired about how they can lend a hand to them.

Additionally, Moore emphasized that many belongings were unfortunately destroyed by the flames. Although it seems that most of Moore’s home remains intact, they are yet to go back, with another renowned figure offering assistance in the process.

How Hillary Duff Is Helping Mandy Moore’s Family

According to a post from Moore’s brother-in-law Mandy Moore and her family have been taken in by friend Hillary Duff, and her husband Matt Koma. In fact, Koma is the “Matt” mentioned in Moore’s comment that apparently suggested setting up the GoFundMe in the first place. Goldsmith wrote on Instagram

Matthew Koma and Hillary Duff have graciously established a GoFundMe on our behalf, aiming to assist us in managing things as they progress. Moreover, they are at present accommodating my brother’s family. Since day one of this ordeal, they have tirelessly supported our entire family. I can never fully express my gratitude for their kindness. Such an act is the epitome of human compassion, and they truly are the most compassionate, selfless individuals we’ve ever encountered.

Due to the destructive nature of the fires, many individuals, including Jennifer Garner’s friend, have unfortunately lost their lives. It will require considerable effort and collective support for everyone to heal and rebuild over a prolonged period.
