As a gamer who’s spent countless hours binge-watching Law & Order: SVU and Organized Crime, I must say this summer has been a rollercoaster of emotions! Seeing Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay strolling through the streets of Paris, cheering for Team USA, felt surreal. It’s like my two favorite detectives decided to take a break from solving crimes and joined the crowd at the Olympics instead!
In typical years, the peak summer season finds the stars of the “Law & Order” series engrossed in filming new seasons, limiting their appearances outside New York City. However, this year was different due to the 2024 Olympics held in Paris. Stars like Christopher Meloni and Mariska Hargitay ventured across the Atlantic Ocean to support Team USA. Their experience ranged from casual hangouts with Snoop Dogg to heartfelt encounters with emotional medalists.
Recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with a star from the fifth season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” about his summer endeavor. As you continue reading, you’ll find two gymnasts expressing a familiar response to Mariska Hargitay and some intriguing insights shared by Chris Meloni regarding encounters with “SVU” fans in France.
Jordan Chiles And Suni Lee Met The SVU Star
As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but express my excitement about Mariska Hargitay taking a break during Season 26 of Law & Order: SVU to support Team USA. In her heartfelt tribute to Ice-T for keeping things going while she was gone, she snapped a photo with Snoop Dogg and the triumphant men’s rowing team, proudly showing off their gold medals. To top it all off, she shared an adorable picture of her daughter alongside gymnasts Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles. What an inspiring way to blend personal passion with professional dedication!
In a charming video shared by Peacock, both medalists appeared calm as they took a photo with Mariska Hargitay’s daughter, but they were clearly thrilled – or “starstruck” – to be meeting the renowned actress from SVU. Here’s the link:

Those who tuned into NBC or Peacock Premium to catch the gymnastics competitions couldn’t miss the joy exuded by the two medalists upon their wins, both individually and as a team. It’s intriguing to witness such enthusiasm over something unique. Interestingly, Hargitay had a special surprise in store too – for Jordan Chiles’ sibling. Take a look:

While we have footage of athletes/fans reacting to Mariska Hargitay at the 2024 Olympics, Christopher Meloni opened up to TopMob about his encounters with Parisians that didn’t happen in front of a camera.
Christopher Meloni Opened Up About Fan Encounters In France
Christopher Meloni, famously recognized for his roles in “SVU” and “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” expanded his repertoire this summer by launching the “Catch a Cat Burglar: Purry Duty” podcast, which is now accessible on Spotify, Apple, and all leading platforms.
After wrapping up his stint in Paris, I had a conversation with Meloni, and since it was typically his busy season for filming Organized Crime in NYC, I was curious about his experience at the Olympics and podcast promotion. He shared his insights:
The podcast was quite intriguing to be involved with and learn about its inner workings. And as for the Olympics, it’s an unparalleled experience, particularly in Paris. My last one was held in Atlanta, often called the “Paris of the South,” but it still has some catching up to do.
Meloni is set to resume filming “Organized Crime” at some point, but since it’s now streaming on Peacock instead of NBC, its schedule may no longer align with that of “Law & Order” and “SVU.” This change allowed him to travel to Paris for the Olympics without interrupting his work on the show, which was a significant improvement over the Atlanta Olympics in 1996.
Absolutely, shows like SVU and OC can be quite intense, but the frequent airing of SVU on cable TV, as well as its availability for streaming on platforms like Peacock and Hulu, has transformed it into a comforting viewing option for many viewers. When I inquired about this phenomenon with Meloni, he confirmed that he frequently receives feedback from fans expressing this sentiment.
In my gaming world, I rarely grasp the full picture immediately. Yet, occasionally, I manage to catch a glimpse, even though I suspect there’s so much more beneath the surface. Most of my encounters are accidental due to others not anticipating me or being overwhelmed by their admiration – often exclaiming things like, “Oh my god, you’re my favorite character!” It’s experiences like these that give you a sense of impact, whether it’s the thrill of the narrative or the enduring legacy of a show. This series has been around for ages, playing on different screens and in countless reruns worldwide. In Paris, they even recognized the cop character, shouting, “The cop is in Paris!” or “Unité spéciale.”
In its historic 25th season, Christopher Meloni nearly made an appearance on Law & Order: SVU, but this was mostly due to the WGA writers’ strike causing delays rather than any intentional decision. However, enthusiasts of Stabler and Benson might catch them reuniting in the 2024-2025 TV season. In the meantime, enjoy Meloni enjoying his time at the Olympics in France!
