After So Many X-Men Teases In The MCU, Marvel Producer Nate Moore Tells Us The Main Message He Wants To Send To Mutant Fans

It’s clear to fans following the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that the X-Men will join the action, with their own movie on the horizon. Just as MCU aims to reimagine the lore of The Fantastic Four this July, they plan to rectify some creative choices from the Fox era regarding the X-Men. Much of that was mocked in last year’s Deadpool and Wolverine films. Now it’s time for a more serious approach.

Another perspective is that it’s been increasingly evident that the X-Men have been integrating into the main Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) for quite some time. For instance, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine appeared in a significant MCU film, and terms like “Mutant” have been featured in earlier narratives. We’re also expecting to delve deeper into Adamantium in upcoming title, Captain America: Brave New World, and Beast made a cameo at the end of The Marvels (2023). With all these hints, I’d contend that they are no longer just on their way; instead, they are already present within the MCU.

Similarly, Nate Moore, producer for both “Eternals” and “Captain America: Brave New World”, who has been a significant creative force at Marvel Studios for years, would likely agree. Moore recently spoke to various media outlets about Anthony Mackie’s upcoming Captain America movie. During his interview with TopMob, we inquired about the incorporation of Adamantium in “Brave New World”, and what casual moviegoers should understand about the material (which eventually reinforces Wolverine’s skeleton, making him extremely tough). Moore shared with us:

For less dedicated viewers, it’s essential to understand that this is an exceptionally precious piece. It’s scarcely found. It could be incredibly challenging. Essentially, it serves as a hint leading to a concept that passionate fans will eagerly anticipate. Our goal is to carefully place hints along the way that eventually pay off. We don’t want to scatter hints and abandon them. Instead, we strive for intentionality. When we eventually tackle X-Men and develop its universe, we aim for it to seem like a logical progression, not a sudden new idea disrupting the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Many elements – even Namor identifying as a mutant in ‘Wakanda Forever’ – were intentionally placed. We’re gradually constructing that path.

Marvel has indeed been laying a steady path with its films and series, showcasing an intricate web of narratives. It’s impressive that they haven’t rushed to incorporate their fresh Fox acquisitions into full-scale productions yet. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently bustling with activity, requiring various layers of storylines to unfold. For now, we are focusing on the everyday heroes like Captain America (Mackie), and next month brings the debut of Daredevil: Born Again, which can be streamed with a Disney+ subscription.

Eventually, Marvel will refocus on mutants. Because, as Nate Moore went on to tell TopMob:

With Disney acquiring Fox, it opened up a new realm of possibilities for us. Now, we can incorporate elements from Fox properties into our shows, such as using the X-Men theme song in Ms. Marvel’s finale. Fans can get hints and be teased with what’s to come, letting them know that these beloved characters are on their way. While Deadpool and Wolverine may have been a big surprise, it doesn’t mean the X-Men will follow the same trajectory once they arrive. We simply want to confirm that the X-Men are indeed coming.

To those eagerly anticipating Mahershala Ali’s portrayal of Blade, it might seem frustrating to hear about continuous delays in the project. However, I view these delays positively. It’s better for Marvel Studios to take their time and ensure they have a solid concept, a well-written script, and the perfect team involved, whether that be for Blade, X-Men, Nova, The Black Knight, or any other heroes they’ve hinted at. Marvel fans are loyal and patient, so there’s no need to rush. They’re laying the groundwork, as Nate Moore puts it, scattering breadcrumbs along the way. In due time, we will all reap the rewards!

The movie “Captain America: Brave New World” is set to hit theaters on February 13. Don’t forget to grab your tickets ahead of time!
