Be aware that the Season 4 opener of “The Cleaning Lady” airing on Fox, titled “My Way,” will contain spoilers. You can catch it the next day if you have a Hulu subscription for streaming.
In the 2025 TV lineup, “The Cleaning Lady” is making a comeback, nearly a year since the third season concluded. “My Way” quickly set up promising prospects for Thony and her family, as Russo supports them in visa proceedings and it seems like the mess with Ramona might be over… only to have everything turned upside down by a significant tragedy. And oh boy, Elodie Yung’s impressive acting performance after the break has me yearning to see her reprise her role as Elektra in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Daredevil” world again.
Currently, it’s important to clarify that just because Thony was written out and Yung’s schedule became more flexible as a result; the character concluded the premiere in the best possible condition given her difficulties such as losing visa opportunities, confronting Ramona in prison, and striking a deal with Jorge following his rescue. The most significant death in the episode was Russo’s, which means that “The Cleaning Lady” will no longer be classified as a television series featuring an actor from the original “Gilmore Girls” cast, unless there are flashbacks or dream sequences involving Liza Weil in future episodes on Fox.
Thony is now embarking on a path towards resuming her medical career, though it’s an unconventional one by working for the cartel instead of through legitimate channels. It’s uncertain if this choice will eventually secure visas for her family, but at least the rest of her family is protected under cartel regulations – theoretically speaking. There’s a long road ahead with many potential pitfalls, and I’m grateful that The Cleaning Lady was renewed in 2024 amidst numerous show cancellations. Earlier seasons are currently available for streaming on Max if you have a subscription.
It’s likely that Ramona hasn’t finished her business with Thony, even though she’s currently in prison. Her outside connections seem robust. On the other hand, Thony has been eager to return to her medical practice for some time, which might explain why she agreed to the deal with Jorge instead of dealing with Ramona, who is often seen as a tricky character.
It seems unrelated that we’re discussing this matter, given Elodie Yung’s distinct role in a separate TV realm since 2017. However, the revival of “Daredevil: Born Again” in early March reunites several cast members from the original Netflix series where Yung portrayed Elektra, including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, and Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle. With the series already renewed for Season 2, this could be an ideal opportunity to catch up with Elektra, just to confirm her current status – alive or dead – post-“The Defenders”.
It seems there might be a higher chance for Elektra to reappear, contrasted with Yung’s potential return to portray her, given the speculation in 2025 about Marvel Cinematic Universe considering a recast for the character. However, until I receive updates, I can entertain myself by visualizing what it could be like if Elodie Yung found a gap in her schedule for The Cleaning Lady to resume her role as Elektra again.
Currently, you can continue enjoying Yung in the role of Thony with fresh episodes of The Cleaning Lady each Tuesday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Fox. This is followed by season 3 of Alert: Missing Persons Unit at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
